JOB TITLE: Field Technical Trainer

LOCATION: Field-Based - Travels to Job Sites Company-Wide

REPORTS TO: HSE Training Manager

COMPANY: Mach Energy Services LLC

ABOUT US

Mach is a rapidly growing provider of energy-related construction solutions for the upstream and midstream markets. As Mach scales its workforce, we are building a dedicated Technical Development function within our HSE Training Department, and the Field Technical Trainer is the first field-facing role in that build-out.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Technical Trainer travels job site to job site as Mach's primary field-based resource for technical and safety training - because our workforce, like most of the construction industry, cannot be pulled into a classroom to build skills. This role delivers Operator Qualification (OQ) certification and re-certification, SafeLand USA orientation, and other HSE related training. Facilitate craft-specific training classes directly in the field. The Field Technical Trainer also acts as the field-level representative for Mach's craft competency/progression framework - coaching crews toward the framework's standards and encouraging/assisting in participation. This is a field-based role requiring approximately 50% travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver SafeLand USA basic orientation, fall protection/fall arrest training, vehicle operator certification, and other HSE related training, and facilitate craft-specific field training classes
  • Deliver OQ (Operator Qualification) certification and re-certification for covered tasks, as a vendor-certified OQ evaluator.
  • Model and reinforce safe behaviors at every site visit; report incidents and near-misses in real time.
  • Assess field training needs through observation, foreman input, and tracked data, rather than running a fixed curriculum on autopilot.
  • Deliver hands-on, on-the-job training sessions and conduct related testing, evaluation, and exam proctoring (OQ, SafeLand, and craft-specific).
  • Act as the field-level resource for Mach's craft competency/progression framework - coaching crews toward the framework's criteria while competency verification and sign-off remain with foremen and construction managers.
  • Document individual employee performance and training progress, feeding directly into the progression framework's tracking.
  • Track training participation, completion, and effectiveness.
  • Partner with superintendents and foremen at each site so competency verification stays a shared responsibility.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintain current OQ evaluator certification and any other required training credentials.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation in Mach's LMS and associated tracking systems.
  • Coordinate scheduling of field training visits with construction managers and superintendents across business units.
  • Support rollout and ongoing use of Mach's mobile training asset for field-based OQ certification and hands-on training.
  • Represent Mach's HSE Training Department professionally when working on client and project sites.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in pipeline, utility, or heavy civil construction - industry field experience is required; a professional training background is not required.
  • Experience with Operator Qualification (OQ) programs; willingness and ability to obtain OQ evaluator certification through a Mach-designated vendor.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction safety practices, including fall protection, vehicle operations, and crane/rigging operations.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and group communication skills; ability to engage field crews with varying experience levels.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites company-wide, estimated at ~50% travel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a multi-site training schedule.
  • A drug screen, physical, and criminal background check are required of the successful candidate.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Use a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • Work extended hours and adjust priorities to meet project goals.
  • Attend and participate in meetings.
  • Travel on short notice, including potentially extended trips.
  • Work on active construction job sites, including exposure to varying weather conditions, outdoor terrain, and standard PPE requirements.

BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and holidays
