Original job description

Deposit Operations Manager / BSA Officer

Location: Tonganoxie, KS (On-Site | Leavenworth County / Western KC Metro)

The Numbers: 50K – 80K Base Comp (Commensurate with experience; flexibility above 80K for a designated Bank Secrecy Act / AML Officer)

The Big Picture Our client is an established, independent community financial institution serving northeast Kansas across Leavenworth, Douglas, and Wyandotte counties. Operating with authentic local leadership, direct executive access, and a strong balance sheet, the institution prioritizes local relationship banking without the bureaucracy, red tape, and depersonalized layers of regional conglomerates.

The Mission This desk anchors the back-office engine room of the institution. As Deposit Operations Manager, you will maintain complete sovereignty over deposit servicing, payment execution, core system administration, and regulatory integrity, serving simultaneously as the designated BSA Officer. It is a critical seat built for an operational anchor who takes pride in system stability, clean audit trails, and keeping the bank running smoothly from the inside out.

The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

• Deposit Operations Sovereignty: Direct and supervise day-to-day deposit operations workflows, including ACH processing, domestic wire transfers, exception item handling, accounts payable, and general ledger reconciliations.

• BSA/AML Program Leadership: Serve as the designated BSA Officer, managing the Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) platform, suspicious activity monitoring, alert resolution, and SAR filings, while presenting monthly compliance reports directly to the Board of Directors.

• Core Systems Administration: Coordinate maintenance, parameter changes, security controls, and workflow automation across the core banking platform and integrated ancillary processing systems.

• Team Leadership & Facility Oversight: Mentor, schedule, and lead a dedicated operations team, driving process improvements while maintaining operational facility standards and physical access security for the operations center.

Your Toolkit

• The Battle Scars: 3 to 7+ years of progressive banking operations experience, with dedicated exposure to deposit operations management or BSA/AML compliance administration within a community bank environment.

• Technical Mastery: Working familiarity with core banking platforms (such as Fiserv, FIS, Jack Henry, or equivalent), automated BSA/AML monitoring tools (FCRM), and standard Federal Reserve/clearing interfaces.

• Detail Threshold: Proven competence in daily reconciliations, regulatory examination preparation (FDIC/OSBC), and balancing technical accuracy with operational velocity.

• Communication Edge: Practical, grounded leadership style capable of communicating technical system realities to frontline branch staff and presenting regulatory updates to executive management.

The Payoff

• Professional Autonomy: Direct ownership of the operations department and compliance program, reporting with direct line-of-sight to executive leadership without layers of remote corporate approvals.

• Culture & Trajectory: A true community banking cadence in a manageable, tight-knit market away from the high-stress, sales-push metrics of national banks.

• Competitive Package: 50K – 80K base comp band, with deliberate room to stretch above the band for an experienced dual-track Deposit Operations Manager and credentialed BSA Officer, backed by comprehensive community bank benefits.
