Original job description

LSW Engineers is a consulting engineering firm specializing in mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and technology systems. Since 1947, LSW has built a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable, innovative, and energy-efficient engineering solutions across a diverse range of facilities, including educational, medical, institutional, mission-critical, aviation, and commercial projects.

LSW Engineers is hiring a Field Supervisor to lead our Advanced Technology Group's team of construction field observers.

This position is on-site at a large semi-conductor project in North Phoenix.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership · Directly supervise all field observers, serving as their primary point of contact for scheduling, workload, and performance matters · Hold regular one-on-one meetings with each observer to review workload, address questions, and provide feedback · Monitor observer capacity and workload across active projects, escalating staffing gaps or overallocation as needed · Support onboarding of new field observers, including orientation to observation standards, reporting templates, and safety requirements

Scheduling · Maintain a master schedule of required field observations across all active projects · Prioritize and sequence observations based on project schedule, inspection windows, client urgency, and risk · Reassign or sequence observations as schedules shift, communicating changes promptly to observers and clients · Coordinate with clients to confirm observation scope and timing align with construction progress

Report Quality & Turnaround · Ensure observation reports are issued within the expected turnaround window after each site visit · Track outstanding or overdue reports and follow up directly with observers to resolve delays · Review reports for completeness and format before transmittal, escalating quality concerns as needed · Flag chronic delays as a resourcing or workload issue rather than treating each instance in isolation

Resource Support · Ensure each observer has the equipment, PPE, site access, and project information needed before a scheduled site visit · Identify and resolve resource gaps proactively - missing documentation, expired credentials, equipment needs · Coordinate with project managers and office administration to secure resources outside direct authority

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise · Experience in the construction industry required · Strong organizational and scheduling skills; able to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent project schedules · People-management experience, including comfort conducting regular one-on-ones and giving performance feedback · Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across observers, project managers, and clients · Able to adapt easily to shifting priorities, conflicting information, and demanding stakeholders
