Where Ambition Meets Innovation

Build a career that matches all your initiative with an impressive dose of innovation. From cutting-edge resources and a collaborative environment to the freedom to make an impact and more, you’ll find the ingredients you need at LPL Financial to shape your success while helping clients pursue their financial goals.

We are seeking an experienced AVP of DevOps Engineering to lead a team responsible for building and operating an AI-driven observability and reliability platform for enterprise-scale environments. This leader will oversee the organization's strategy for monitoring LPL environments using Dynatrace and similar OTEL, enable the development of intelligent automation and AI-powered operational capabilities, and drive adoption of modern reliability engineering practices across the enterprise.

The SRE lead will be responsible for analyzing logs, metrics, and traces, implementing dynamic alerting frameworks, and delivering self-healing capabilities that reduce MTTR, improve service resilience, and prevent outages. This role combines engineering leadership, SRE, platform engineering, observability, and applied AI/ML, with a strong focus on team development, operational excellence, automation, and business alignment.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading high-performing SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering teams in large-scale, mission-critical environments and driving reliability transformation initiatives across multiple business and technology organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Site Reliability Engineers focused on observability, reliability, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for enterprise observability, AI-driven operations, and reliability engineering across the organization.
  • Establish and govern reliability standards, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, monitoring practices, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise observability solutions leveraging Dynatrace, including logs, metrics, traces, Real User Monitoring (RUM), and executive reporting dashboards.
  • Sponsor and oversee implementation of AI/ML-powered capabilities for predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, incident correlation, alert optimization, and root cause analysis.
  • Lead major incident management processes, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce MTTR, incident recurrence, and operational toil.
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, and architecture teams to embed reliability, resilience, and operational best practices throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Champion self-healing and intelligent automation strategies, ensuring automated remediation capabilities are secure, auditable, scalable, and aligned with governance requirements.
  • Drive platform engineering and Infrastructure-as-Code adoption to improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Establish metrics, KPIs, and operational governance frameworks to measure service health, team effectiveness, and reliability outcomes while communicating progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.

What are we looking for? We’re looking for strong collaborators who deliver exceptional client experiences and thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented environments. Our ideal candidates pursue greatness, act with integrity, and are driven to help our clients succeed. We value those who embrace creativity, continuous improvement, and contribute to a culture where we win together and create and share joy in our work.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Production Operations.
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience managing SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Operations teams.
  • 7+ years experience leading automation initiatives using programming and scripting languages such as Python, Go, Java, or similar technologies.
  • 2+ years experience of AI/ML-driven operational use cases, including anomaly detection, predictive monitoring, intelligent alerting, and incident correlation.
  • 7+ years experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Kubernetes, container platforms, and modern CI/CD practices.

Core Competencies:

  • Site Reliability Engineering Expertise – Deep knowledge of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, availability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
  • Observability & Monitoring Leadership – Expertise in enterprise monitoring, Dynatrace, logging, metrics, tracing, AIOps, and service health management.
  • Incident & Crisis Management – Strong leadership during major incidents, root cause analysis, problem management, and continuous service improvement.
  • Automation & Platform Engineering – Ability to drive intelligent automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and self-healing platform capabilities.
  • AI-Driven Operations (AIOps) – Understanding of AI/ML applications for anomaly detection, predictive monitoring, alert correlation, and operational intelligence.
  • Cloud & Distributed Systems Architecture – Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, Kubernetes, distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and reliability patterns.
  • Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration – Ability to influence and partner effectively with engineering, infrastructure, security, architecture, and business leaders.
  • Communication, Governance & Execution – Strong executive communication, decision-making, program leadership, operational governance, and results-driven execution skills.
