Who We Are

At Loftin, we provide certainty in an uncertain world by delivering reliable generator power solutions our customers can count on. Family owned and operated for nearly 50 years, we’ve built a legacy on relationships, problem-solving, and doing things the Loftin way - with consistency, integrity, and a people-first mindset. We’re not just providing an elite experience in power – we’re empowering people. Our team is family-focused, growth-minded, and driven to provide solutions that last by developing people who never stop learning. When you join Loftin, you become part of something bigger - a community dedicated to powering progress and shaping a more dependable future.

Who You Are

You are a reliable, customer-focused problem solver. You effectively communicate, and listen, through cooperation and teamwork. You are always looking to improve whether learning something new or seeking ways to promote better quality. You are driven to do what it takes to get the job done!

Mission:

The Traveling Generator Technician performs preventive maintenance, in-depth corrective maintenance, load bank testing, and start-up commissioning on power generation equipment at customer locations throughout Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. This is a highly travel-oriented role, including overnight and extended stays, with assignments that may keep the Technician at a single customer or project site for several weeks at a time. Working with a high degree of independence, the Technician manages assigned service activities and travel logistics, fixes it right the first time, identifies and estimates recommended repairs, and represents Loftin as the face of the company wherever the work takes them.

Obsessions:

  • Safety first, every job, every time. Follow all safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment, and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
  • Fix it right the first time. Troubleshoot and repair power generation equipment at a journeyman level so the customer’s equipment is ready when they need it.
  • Own the job from start to finish on the road. Plan travel, parts, and tools ahead so the Technician arrives ready to work with virtually no supervision.
  • Find the next repair. Identify needed corrective repairs during service and prepare clear written estimates that support the Service and Parts sales objectives of the department.
  • If it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen. Clearly and accurately document all work and repairs following Loftin documentation procedures.
  • Represent Loftin well. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and dealers, often far from a Loftin branch.
  • Keep growing and share what you know. Progress through the Qualification Card levels on schedule and help develop less experienced technicians.

Expectations: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following expectations satisfactorily.

  • Daily
  • Complete a pre-job safety assessment before starting work and use required PPE.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, load bank testing, and start-up commissioning.
  • Check in with the customer on arrival and review findings with the customer before leaving the site.
  • Complete and submit service reports and time entries the same day work is performed.
  • Document recommended repairs identified during service and submit written estimates, as required.
  • Communicate job status, delays, and parts needs to the Field Service Supervisor and dispatch.
  • Weekly
  • Confirm upcoming assignments, travel, lodging, and parts with the Field Service Supervisor, dispatch, and Parts.
  • Submit travel expenses and receipts per company policy.
  • Inspect the company vehicle and report any issues.
  • Check in with the Field Service Supervisor on completed work, open issues, and upcoming needs.
  • Monthly
  • Inventory truck stock, tools, and meters; request replenishment and report damaged or missing items.
  • Follow up on open repair recommendations and estimates with Service Sales, as requested.
  • Complete all assigned training within UKG.
  • Quarterly
  • Review progress against the Qualification Card with the Field Service Supervisor.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is current on scheduled maintenance.
  • Annually
  • Participate in a performance review and set development goals with the Field Service Supervisor.
  • Maintain required licenses and certifications, and complete Rehlko factory training, as required.
  • Verify meters and test equipment are calibrated, as required.
  • Ad Hoc
  • Be available to respond to emergency calls 24/7.
  • Travel extensively throughout Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas, including overnight and extended stays of several weeks, as required by project and business needs.
  • Provide technical support to customers and dealers in person, by phone, or in the field.
  • Transport parts and tools to worksites; perform diagnostic testing and pull cable, as required.
  • Assist in preparing complex procedures and documentation required to perform tasks.
  • Mentor and assist less experienced technicians on shared jobs.
  • Other duties as required.

Success Metrics:
