Standard Job Description
Role Overview Support electronic fabrications and process engineering by performing hands-on electronic assembling, soldering, harnessing, conformal coating, and related processes. This role bridges process evaluation, equipment monitoring, and technical documentation to ensure consistent fabrication, quality and yield.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate new processes, products, and materials specific to electronic assemblies
- Isolate process problems in soldering, harness fabrication, conformal coating, etching/marking, and flat pack forming
- Design and conduct simple experiments for process optimization in electronics contexts
- Prepare clear oral and written reports on process performance, discrepancies, and recommendations
- Monitor electronics fabrication processes, process controls, materials, and supplies
- Support electronic assembly fabrication: Surface Mount (SMT) soldering, Through-Hole soldering, harness wiring, and routing
- Check equipment functioning for proper operation; identify discrepancies in torquing, conformal coat application, etching/marking, flat pack forming, chemical mixing, and wiring
- Advise operators and inform engineers regarding electronic processes, procedures, equipment status, and corrective actions Work Environment
- Electronics fabrication laboratory or cleanroom environment
- Work closely with engineers, operators, and quality personnel
- Follow electronics-specific quality, safety, and ESD (electrostatic discharge) procedures
- Role combines hands-on assembly, harness fabrication, process monitoring, and accurate documentation Why You’ll Love This Role
- Direct impact on electronics fabrication quality, yield, and reliability
- Hands-on work across diverse technical processes
- Collaboration with cross-functional engineering and operations teams
- Practical problem-solving in a technology-driven environment
Basic Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must meet all requirements listed:
- High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a trade school program in a relevant field
- Experience in electronics assembly, soldering, harness fabrication, wiring, or related fabrication environment
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, work instructions, and process specifications
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen and possess the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills
Nice-to-have skills that strengthen candidacy but are not required:
- Experience evaluating new electronic processes or products
- Experience supporting mechanical/electronics processing operations
- Experience with SMT/through-hole processes, harness routing, procedures, conformal coating, and chemical mixing/handling
