Original job description

Overview

LMI is seeking a Project Management Training Specialist to coordinate learner services and virtual training operations for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) technology modernization initiatives. This position combines scheduling, learning management system administration, live-session production, completion tracking, and responsive user support to ensure that training is accessible, reliable, and easy to navigate.

The Project Training Management Specialist will coordinate instructor calendars and class rosters, prepare and moderate Microsoft Teams or Webex sessions, maintain accurate enrollment and completion records, and assist learners with course access and common Jira questions. The specialist will work closely with Agile instructors, instructional designers, platform support staff, and program operations to resolve issues and keep learning activities running smoothly. This is not simply an event-scheduling role. A successful specialist anticipates learner needs, protects data quality, identifies recurring support patterns, and follows issues through to closure. The ideal candidate combines steady customer service, attention to detail, calm troubleshooting, and a practical understanding of virtual learning and enterprise software adoption.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors - helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule live classes, manage invitations, cohorts, instructor calendars, attendance, and enrollment changes.
  • Provide/produce virtual training in Microsoft Teams or Webex, including setup, breakout rooms, polls, moderation, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain LMS course records, completion status, learner rosters, and routine reports; reconcile discrepancies.
  • Respond to learner questions, troubleshoot access and navigation issues, and route complex support requests.
  • Provide practical guidance on Jira Cloud basics, dashboards, issue navigation, and standard team workflows.
  • Coordinate office hours, collect evaluations, and communicate recurring learner problems to trainers and administrators.
  • Maintain class calendars, enrollment rules, waitlists, learner reminders, instructor preparation checklists, and accurate attendance reconciliation.
  • Conduct pre-session technology checks and support accessibility needs, course materials, recordings when approved, chat moderation, and session follow-up.
  • Investigate learner completion discrepancies, manage exception queues, and produce reliable weekly attendance and course-completion summaries.
  • Document and triage user questions using established knowledge articles and support procedures, escalating access or configuration problems to the correct team.
  • Collect learner evaluations and recurring support issues, then recommend improvements to course logistics, guidance, and self-service resources.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in education, training specialist, instructional design/technology, communications, business administration, human resources, information systems, or a related field. Two additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor's.
  • 1+ year of training operations, learning support, help desk, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting virtual events or classes with Microsoft Teams or Webex.
  • Familiarity with LMS enrollment, attendance, completion tracking, and user support.
  • Working knowledge of Jira Cloud and strong customer-service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination and satisfy applicable federal personnel vetting, security, privacy, accessibility, and data-handling requirements.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
  • Ability to manage concurrent class logistics, maintain accurate records, and communicate clearly with learners and instructors under time pressure.
  • Experience handling user information carefully and escalating technical problems with complete, reproducible details.

Desired:

  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), or federal health programs is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting high-volume (20k users) federal training programs.
  • Confluence knowledge-base administration or accessibility-support experience.
  • Experience using ticketing or service-management tools and creating reusable support instructions for frequent learner questions.
  • Graduate coursework or a master's degree in education, learning technologies, or organizational learning is a plus.
  • Additional Atlassian credentials such as Jira Essentials or Confluence Essentials certification are desirable.
