Molecular Technologist Location: Jacksonville, Florida Pay: $35 per hour Schedule: Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM About the Opportunity Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with an established reference laboratory in Jacksonville, FL, to identify a Molecular Technologist to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in molecular diagnostics, hands-on PCR experience, and excellent pipetting skills. Candidates with experience using Thermo Fisher QuantStudio and KingFisher platforms are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Process and accession clinical specimens, including urine, swabs, stool, and nail clippings and scrapings.
• Perform DNA and RNA extraction using Thermo Fisher KingFisher systems.
• Prepare multiplex real-time PCR assays, master mixes, and 384-well plates using electronic pipettes.
• Run and analyze qPCR assays using QuantStudio 12K Flex instruments.
• Maintain proper specimen handling, aseptic technique, and strict contamination prevention practices.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance, cleaning, and decontamination.
• Accurately document and release results in the laboratory information system (LIS) within established turnaround times.
• Participate in quality control, proficiency testing, competency assessments, and assay validation activities.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and inspection-ready CLIA documentation.
• Follow established laboratory procedures and collaborate with team members to support efficient daily operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license in Molecular Biology preferred, but not required.
• Clinical molecular laboratory experience preferred; new graduates with relevant PCR coursework or internship experience are encouraged to apply.
• Hands-on experience with real-time PCR and automated nucleic acid extraction preferred.
• Familiarity with QuantStudio instruments, KingFisher extraction systems, and high-throughput pipetting techniques is a plus.
• Strong understanding of PCR contamination prevention and unidirectional workflow.
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation, organization, and time management skills.
• A collaborative, team-oriented attitude and willingness to support shared laboratory responsibilities.

Compensation and Benefits

• $35 per hour.
• Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday schedule, typically 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.
