Original job description
Our client is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to manage, support, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across a global organization. This position is ideal for a hands-on network professional with 5+ years of enterprise network administration or engineering experience who combines strong technical expertise with proactive communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Following a recent network implementation, the Network Engineer will learn and map the environment, identify opportunities for improvement, and help optimize the network for performance, reliability, security, and operational efficiency. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a changing IT environment with significant room for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize enterprise network infrastructure, identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Map and document the network environment, maintaining network diagrams, configuration records, equipment inventories, policies, procedures, and supporting technical documentation.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network, server, connectivity, and infrastructure issues while providing day-to-day operational support and escalation coverage.
- Strengthen network security by identifying potential threats, supporting cybersecurity initiatives, maintaining endpoint and network protections, and partnering with IT leadership on remediation.
- Lead and support network and infrastructure projects from planning through implementation while collaborating with IT teams across multiple locations.
- Drive continuous improvement through proactive problem-solving, knowledge sharing, professional communication, and a customer-focused approach to technology support.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in network administration, network engineering, or a similar role within enterprise environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry-recognized networking certification, such as CCNA or equivalent, required; MCSE preferred.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of enterprise network design and administration, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, subnets, VPNs, routers, switches, wireless technologies, and network security.
- Experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies, including Azure/cloud environments, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, Group Policy, VMware, and Hyper-V.
- Strong communication, customer service, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work proactively and effectively with global teams and stakeholders.
- Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
Additional Technical Experience
- The ideal candidate will bring broad infrastructure knowledge across areas including:
- Network and endpoint security best practices
- SIEM and vulnerability management solutions
- Backup and recovery strategies
- Mobile device management and endpoint management
- Hardware and software lifecycle management
- Cloud hosting and remote access technologies
- SOX audit requirements and related compliance standards
What Success Looks Like
This position requires more than technical expertise. Our client is looking for someone who is proactive, curious, professional, collaborative, and customer-focused. The successful Network Engineer will communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, operate effectively without constant oversight, take ownership of problems, and be willing to step in wherever needed to support the broader team.
The IT organization is undergoing change and restructuring with an emphasis on stronger collaboration and breaking down silos. This creates an opportunity for someone who wants to help improve an existing environment, contribute ideas, support teammates, and grow alongside the organization.
