Original job description

SUMMARY:

Lexington Clinic, Central Kentucky's largest multi-specialty healthcare provider, is seeking an Application Developer II to join its small, growing development team. The team builds the internal web applications, data pipelines, and AI agents that clinic leaders and staff rely on, and every developer works across all three. In a typical month the developer will build a feature in a React and TypeScript web application, build or extend the Python and SQL pipeline that supplies it, and work directly with the users who requested it to make sure it answers their question. This is a growth role on a team that invests in its people. The developer frequently works from functional specifications proven in a working prototype, inside an established codebase with defined patterns and shared services, with regular code review and mentorship from a senior engineer. AI coding assistants are part of daily work, and the developer is expected to understand and own the code they help produce. The position is hybrid after an on-site ramp-up of at least 90 days: three days on-site, two remote. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred; experience, a developer training program, or demonstrated work is accepted in place of formal education. Application Developer II requires two or more years of professional development experience, or equivalent demonstrated ability. Candidates need working knowledge of one side of the team's stack and a genuine interest in learning the other: web development in TypeScript with React and Node, or data development in Python and SQL on a cloud data warehouse. Familiarity with relational databases, cloud platforms, Git, code review, containers, and AI coding assistants is expected. Snowflake or healthcare data experience is a plus. Clear communication with clinical and business users, understanding a problem before building, and good documentation habits are essential.

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:

Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, and remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours per day. Manual dexterity, articulate speech, visual acuity, and ability to hear.

NOTE:

This document is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. It is not intended to act as an exhaustive list of all duties, skills, and responsibilities required of personnel so classified. Attendance is an essential function of the job.
