Original job description

Description

Ledgebrook is an AI-native specialty insurance platform. When a business needs coverage that is custom and complex, its broker comes to us, and our underwriters give them an answer, often in hours rather than weeks. We built our technology from scratch, with AI in it from the first line of code. The technology helps price the risk; the underwriter uses their judgment to decide. There are always two hands on the wheel. We are insurance industry insiders, and we eat our own cooking: Ledgebrook writes the policy and shares the risk through our own carrier, Ledgebrook Specialty, rated A- (Excellent) by AM Best. We work exclusively through wholesale brokers. Our vision: to make the wheels of insurance spin faster. At Ledgebrook, everything we do is driven by our culture: Care, Strive, Thrive Together. To succeed in modernizing the industry, we must first succeed in changing the way we do business. Talent density is our north star - fewer, better people working together as one. To that end we’ve replaced all individual incentives with generous equity packages - we play as a team, we win as a team. Everyone benefits handsomely from Ledgebrook’s success.

About the Role

Ledgebrook is seeking a Manager, Data Quality to help build and lead our Data Quality function within the Product & Data team. This is a ground-floor opportunity: you’ll be closely involved in designing and building the function you’ll go on to lead. This is a builder role. Data Quality exists today largely as project work, and you’ll play a central role in turning it into a formal, scalable discipline, with the validation frameworks, KPIs, dashboards, and operating rhythms that make our data trustworthy as we grow from MGA to full-stack carrier. Working with our AVP, who will set the high-level direction, you’ll take real ownership of the hands-on design and build: shaping the roadmap, designing processes, building the first versions of our tooling, and driving adoption across the business. We’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is willing to take smart risks, and is excited to try new approaches and learn quickly from what works. You’ll partner closely with engineering, actuarial, claims, analytics, and operations.

What You’ll Do:

Stand up the Data Quality function: Define the operating model, standards, and roadmap for enterprise data quality, and formalize it from ad hoc project support into a repeatable, governed process.
Build Data Quality KPIs and dashboards: Design and launch DQ metrics and monitoring from the ground up, including statistical trending, anomaly detection, and completeness measures.
Own the validation framework: Define business data validation rules and build automated reconciliations, controls, and alerting across policy, premium, and claims data.
Drive root-cause remediation: Move the team from reactive fixes to proactive prevention by tracing data issues back to where they start and fixing them at the source.
Lead migration and launch quality: Plan and run UAT, validation, and sign-off for system migrations, new data feeds (including TPA integrations), and new product launches.
Bridge business and engineering: Translate business requirements into clear specifications and efficient designs for Data Engineering, and establish shared, documented data definitions.
Build and develop the team: Help shape hiring, mentor analysts, and set the standard for quality and ownership as the function scales.

About you

We love working with people who are eager to learn constantly and genuinely excited about the chaotic, rewarding process of building a company from the ground up.

You’ll be a great fit if you bring:

A Strong Moral Compass: You believe in doing the right thing, period. We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for toxic behaviors.
Customer-First Empathy: You are passionate about delivering an exceptional experience to everyone you work with, both inside and outside the company.
Intellectual Curiosity: You naturally question the status quo and love finding innovative ways to solve problems.
A Growth Mindset: You possess a hunger for continuous learning and want to constantly expand your skillset.
Urgency & Prioritization: You can pivot quickly and balance the need to get things right with the speed of getting them done right now.
A Solution-Oriented Outlook: When things go wrong, you don't look for blame - you immediately focus on how to fix it.
Transparent Communication: You value honesty, clarity, and open feedback.
Team-First Energy: You want to win together as a high-performing team and actively build connections across our remote locations.

Requirements

Must Haves:

5+ years of experience in data quality, data analytics, or similar insurance data-focused roles, including meaningful experience analyzing Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance data.
Advanced SQL, Excel, and Power BI for investigation, data modeling, and reporting.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and senior leaders across the organization.
Close attention to detail and the curiosity to trace complex data inconsistencies back to their source.
Strong ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
Comfort integrating AI tools in day-to-day workflows to drive efficiencies.
A self-starter who takes full ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and handles ambiguity well.

Nice To Haves:

Experience applying statistical methods to monitor data and portfolio health (e.g., mix-shift trending, control limits, variance, and anomaly detection).
Experience at an MGA or a carrier that partners with MGAs.
Experience leading or managing analysts.

Benefits

U.S & Canada Benefits

Full remote flexibility and asynchronous work culture.
Unlimited PTO and fully paid sick leave.
Comprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus HSA and FSA options.
Additional financial protection and retirement benefits, including a 401(k), company-paid life insurance, and disability coverage.

Compensation

Compensation:

The base salary range for this position is $135,000-165,000 This is a good-faith compensation range based on what Ledgebrook reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location.
Employees in this position are eligible to participate in Ledgebrook’s equity incentive program.

For candidates applying from The U.S. or Canada: Please note: This position is open only to candidates who are authorized to work in the United States or Canada without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
