Original job description

Leavitt Heartland Insurance Services, a Leavitt Group affiliate, is looking for a Commercial Lines Account Manager to join their team in Rapid City, SD.

In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted resource for commercial clients while partnering closely with producers, account executives, carriers, and other members of the service team. You’ll manage the day-to-day needs of assigned accounts, support renewals and remarketing, help identify additional coverage opportunities, and guide clients through coverage questions, policy changes, claims, and other insurance needs.

This is a great opportunity for someone with established commercial insurance experience who enjoys building client relationships, solving problems, and helping less-experienced team members grow.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and service an assigned book of commercial insurance accounts with a focus on client retention and satisfaction.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for clients, answering coverage questions, recommending appropriate coverage options, and processing policy changes.
  • Manage renewal and remarketing activity, including gathering underwriting information, completing applications, preparing submissions, and working with carrier partners to obtain competitive terms.
  • Review carrier quotes for pricing and coverage and organize recommendations for producers and account executives.
  • Prepare accurate, professional insurance proposals for presentation to clients and prospects.
  • Quote new business and support producers and sales team members throughout the placement process.
  • Issue certificates of insurance, auto ID cards, and other insurance verification documents.
  • Review policies and carrier documents for accuracy and follow through on discrepancies or outstanding items.
  • Monitor pending cancellations and assist with premium collection and account reconciliation when needed.
  • Assist clients with claims reporting and follow up with the appropriate internal and carrier partners regarding claim status.
  • Proactively review client accounts to identify coverage gaps, additional coverage needs, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Stay informed about carrier products, underwriting requirements, policy forms, binding authority, and industry changes.
  • Help mentor and support other members of the account management team by sharing knowledge and appropriately delegating work.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with clients, carrier partners, and internal team members.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of commercial insurance agency experience, preferably in a Commercial Lines Account Manager role.
  • Active Property & Casualty license required.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, carrier requirements, policy forms, quoting, renewals, and account servicing.
  • Experience marketing and remarketing commercial accounts and working directly with insurance carriers.
  • Strong client-service mindset with the ability to communicate coverage information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, renewals, and client requests while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of client issues and working collaboratively to resolve problems.
  • Ability to delegate appropriately and provide support or guidance to other team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and work effectively within agency management and carrier systems.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CISR or CISR Elite designation is preferred, or willingness to work toward the designation.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits package including:
  • Medical, Dental, Vision
  • FSA/HSA & Life Insurance
  • 401(k) with company benefits
  • Competitive PTO including vacation and sick time, and company holidays
  • Wellness Program
