Original job description

Location: New York/ Remote, US Who We Are: LeagueApps is the operating system and community for youth and local sports leaders, equipping them with the technology, tools, and professional network they need to grow, scale, and play for the future. Our platform powers thousands of clubs, tournaments, leagues, camps, and facilities, serving over 10 million participants nationwide. Backed by professional leagues, teams, and athletes as investors and partners, we’re helping modernize the youth sports industry with our best-in-class SaaS platform. We operate at the intersection of sports, technology, and community. From registration to payments to communications, our platform makes running sports seamless for organizations across the country. Beyond software, we foster a community of leaders, sharing insights on critical issues like increasing girls’ participation in sports, preventing youth injuries, and understanding how technology is shaping the future of play. Mission-driven at our core, our purpose is to create amazing sports experiences for all. To further this mission, we founded and continue to support the FundPlay Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening sports-based youth development organizations. FundPlay helps bring meaningful sports opportunities to hundreds of thousands of underserved kids and communities every year. Role Mission: As a Senior Product Manager, you will own one of the most critical areas of the LeagueApps platform. You will operate as the business owner for your product area. That means developing a clear point of view on where we should invest, understanding the economics behind those choices, making difficult tradeoffs, and being accountable for the outcomes. You will understand how your area influences retention, expansion, adoption, customer value, cost-to-serve, and the broader performance of the LeagueApps platform. You will lead an empowered cross-functional squad across Product, Engineering, and Design, but your ownership extends well beyond the squad. You will work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Finance, and company leadership to ensure we are solving the right problems, making sound investments, and delivering measurable business and customer impact. We are not looking for someone to manage a roadmap or feature queue. We are looking for someone who wants to run a product area like it is their business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the business and product strategy for your area. Develop a clear strategy for how your product area creates value for customers and LeagueApps. Understand the market, customer needs, competitive landscape, and economics of the area, and translate those insights into a focused set of priorities. Connect product decisions to measurable outcomes including retention, expansion, adoption, engagement, operational efficiency, and platform value.
  • Understand the customer deeply. Spend meaningful time with club directors, league and tournament operators, coaches, administrators, and families. Understand how they plan seasons, run programs, respond to change, communicate, and operate their businesses. Push beyond feature requests to identify the underlying problem, its importance, and whether solving it creates enough value to warrant investment.
  • Make investment decisions, not feature decisions. Evaluate opportunities based on customer value, market opportunity, business impact, effort, and strategic importance. Build the case for where LeagueApps should invest, and where we should not. Be comfortable sizing opportunities, evaluating ROI, understanding tradeoffs, and defending your recommendations to Product leadership, Finance, GTM leaders, and executives.
  • Drive commercial outcomes. Understand how your area contributes to the broader LeagueApps business. Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Finance to understand how the product affects acquisition, retention, expansion, adoption, and competitive differentiation. Help identify opportunities for new value creation, monetization, packaging, and expansion where appropriate.
  • Own outcomes from strategy through results. Establish clear measures of success before major investments are made. Monitor product and business performance, diagnose where results differ from expectations, and take action. When something works, understand why and scale it. When it does not, be willing to change direction, stop investing, or make a different bet. You are accountable for learning and outcomes, not simply delivery.
  • Lead an empowered product trio. Partner deeply with your Engineering and Design counterparts as co-owners of the product area. Create clarity around the problems worth solving and the outcomes that matter, while enabling the team to determine the best solutions. Make thoughtful tradeoffs across customer value, technical health, product quality, speed, scope, and long-term scalability.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment. Bring together Product, Engineering, Design, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Finance, and company leadership around a shared understanding of the strategy. Communicate clearly about priorities, evidence, tradeoffs, performance, and decisions. Be equally comfortable discussing workflows with an operator, technical constraints with Engineering, commercial performance with GTM leaders, and investment rationale with executives.
  • Drive successful go-to-market and adoption. Work closely with Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and enablement teams so launches translate into real customer adoption and business impact. Define the target customer, value proposition, positioning, adoption strategy, success metrics, and feedback loops for meaningful launches. Your ownership does not end when Engineering deploys the product.
  • Bring an external perspective. Develop a strong understanding of the sports technology and broader SaaS landscape. Understand how competitors are evolving, where customer expectations are moving, and where LeagueApps can differentiate, rather than simply reacting to internal requests.
  • Connect the end-to-end LeagueApps experience. Work closely with peer squads so your area operates as part of a cohesive platform, not a standalone feature set. Think across the entire customer lifecycle, from program setup and registration through scheduling, communication, payments, and game day.

Who You Are:

  • You think like a business owner. 7+ years of product management experience. You have owned a meaningful product, product line, or business area and can clearly explain how your decisions affected its performance.
  • You are commercially minded and outcome-driven. You understand SaaS business fundamentals and can connect product decisions to revenue, retention, adoption, expansion, customer value, and cost. You can point to specific metrics you moved, explain how you chose them, and share what you learned when you missed.`
  • You are financially and analytically fluent. You are comfortable using financial, product, customer, and operational data to make decisions. You can size opportunities, evaluate expected impact, build a business case, understand ROI, and work effectively with Finance and GTM partners.
  • You are strong at product discovery. You know how to uncover meaningful customer problems, synthesize qualitative and quantitative evidence, and test assumptions before making large investments. You use discovery to improve decision quality, not as a process for its own sake.
  • You are a true partner to Engineering and Design. You understand technical tradeoffs, respect strong design craft, and create shared ownership rather than handing requirements downstream. You give teams clarity on the problem and outcome while leaving room for them to bring their expertise to the solution.
  • You are a strong cross-functional leader. You influence without relying on hierarchy. You build credibility with executives, engineers, designers, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Finance by bringing clear thinking, evidence, judgment, and accountability, and you can say no with a good reason.
  • You can navigate complex products. You enjoy untangling workflow-heavy systems, dependencies, constraints, and edge cases without losing sight of the larger business outcome. You build historical context in a mature product area quickly and use it to make sound decisions without being anchored by it.
  • You care about the mission. You are passionate about youth sports and empowering communities through technology, and aligned with LeagueApps’ mission and core values.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation: $190,000-$225,000
  • Health Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision coverage, HSA
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Home-Office Stipend
  • Sports Leagues subsidies for employees and their children
  • Cell phone and gym subsidies
  • Mental Health Resources; Talk Space
