Custodial - Head Class 5

Summary

Performs and oversees custodial services at an assigned school to maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and secure environment. Leads assigned custodial staff and is responsible for cleaning, facility and grounds maintenance, building security, minor repairs, event setup, supply inventory, and responding to safety and operational concerns.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and inspect classrooms, offices, restrooms, gyms, common areas, and grounds.
• Supervise, train, schedule, assign, and direct custodial staff and student sweepers.
• Help address employee concerns, performance issues, and staffing needs.
• Coordinate custodial work with school administration and Custodial Supervisors.
• Monitor boilers, alarms, building systems, and facility conditions.
• Respond to maintenance, safety, vandalism, and operational concerns.
• Prepare facilities for school activities and special events.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
• Remove snow and maintain safe entrances and walkways.
• Open, close, and secure buildings and grounds.
• Order and maintain custodial supplies and equipment.
• Move and deliver supplies, equipment, furniture, and materials.
• Attend required meetings and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
