Job Description:

We are seeking an innovative and analytically driven Senior Industrial Engineer to join our dynamic Industrial Engineering team. In this high‑impact role, you will blend classical industrial engineering methods with modern data analytics to design, optimize, and scale production systems for mission‑critical aerospace and defense products.

This position is ideal for engineers who are as comfortable building predictive models and dashboards as they are executing factory‑floor studies, developing layouts, and performing deep‑dive capacity analyses. You will influence production strategy, drive automation of analytical workflows, and help shape the future state of manufacturing at L3Harris.

This position is located in our Palm Bay, FL facility: https://careers.l3harris.com/en/florida

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain sophisticated production plans, schedules, and capacity models that support cost, schedule, and delivery objectives.
  • Analyze large, complex data sets to identify constraints, uncover trends, and propose data driven improvements to production processes.
  • Create predictive models (forecasting, throughput modeling, operations research techniques) to support long range planning and resource allocation.
  • Design and optimize factory layouts, workflows, and workcells using industrial engineering fundamentals, simulation tools, and lean methodologies.
  • Build automated dashboards and analytics tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI) to improve visibility, decision-making, and real time performance tracking.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce variability, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Program Management, and Engineering to ensure alignment between production requirements and business objectives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and production planners on best practices in analytics, modeling, and industrial engineering methods.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, advanced manufacturing methods, and data science trends to continuously improve engineering practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 6 years prior relevant experience, Graduate Degree with 4 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Industrial Engineer with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex production planning, scheduling, and capacity analysis.
  • High proficiency in data analytics, including hands on experience with Python, SQL, forecasting models, simulation tools, and dashboarding platforms such as Power BI.
  • Expertise in applying industrial engineering principles to optimize manufacturing systems (facilities planning, line balancing, standard work, resource modeling, etc.).

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity in fast paced manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across functions.
  • Industrial Engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems such as SAP or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience with AutoCAD for facility and workflow design.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD clearance.
  • Background in mentoring, project management, or leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience with throughput simulation, discrete-event modeling, or advanced operations research methods.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, digital manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Familiarity with AI development tools such as Codex.
