Original job description

Who We Are At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.

The Role

The Opportunity The largest modernization programs are often won or lost in the space between the deal and the delivery. They span applications, cloud, mainframe, and network & edge, involve many teams, and carry high expectations from day one. Clients need someone who keeps it all connected. As a Modernization Engagement Lead at Kyndryl, that someone is you.

You’ll lead coordination across sales, architects, consulting, and delivery teams to make sure complex consulting and delivery programs succeed, from pre-sales through initial delivery. You’ll make sure the solution is well scoped and truly deliverable, the commitments in the Statement of Work are clear, dependencies and risks are managed early, and the program launches with a strong start and stays on track. This role is built for leaders who thrive on complexity, enjoy bringing teams and technologies together, and want to be accountable for getting large modernization programs off to a successful start.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Make the biggest programs succeed. Work on large, complex modernization programs where strong coordination makes the difference between a good start and a great one.
  • Connect the whole journey. Follow a program from pre-sales conversations through solution definition, launch, and initial delivery, instead of handing it off at the first milestone.
  • Shape the solution, not just the schedule. Combine program leadership with hands-on technical solution management, from scoping and proof-of-concept framing to Statement of Work (SoW) creation and delivery readiness.
  • Lead across towers. Bring applications, cloud, mainframe, and network & edge together into one cohesive client solution.
  • Put AI to work. Use agentic AI capabilities and proven, repeatable modernization approaches to speed up execution and improve outcomes.
  • Partner across the business. Work alongside architects, engineering teams, account teams, and client business stakeholders to turn modernization strategy into measurable results.
  • Build a path to the top. This role leads toward senior modernization leadership (see Your Future at Kyndryl).

Kyndryl currently does not require employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, however, if you are hired to work at a client, customer, or partner location, you may be required to show proof of vaccination to align with their respective COVID-19 vaccination policies. Those who believe they are eligible may apply for a medical or religious accommodation prior to the start of employment.

Who You Are

Why Kyndryl:

We’re a purpose-driven company committed to innovation and empowering our people. Here, your work contributes to meaningful outcomes for clients and communities.

Your Future at Kyndryl Every position at Kyndryl offers a way forward to grow your career. We have opportunities that you won’t find anywhere else, including hands-on experience, learning opportunities, and the chance to certify in all four major platforms. Whether you want to broaden your knowledge base or narrow your scope and specialize in a specific sector, you can find your opportunity here.

Kyndryl is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Kyndryl is also committed to compliance with all fair employment practices regarding citizenship and immigration status.

What You’ll Do Coordinate from pre-sales to initial delivery

  • Lead coordination across sales, architects, consulting, legal, and delivery teams so that complex modernization programs are well shaped from pre-sales through launch and initial delivery.
  • Lead technical solution management, including scoping, proof-of-concept (PoC) framing, assumptions, dependencies, baselining, and delivery readiness.
  • Own or contribute to SoW creation and review, with clear deliverables, acceptance criteria, and execution model, so that what is sold is what can be delivered.
  • Guide the transition from pre-sales to delivery, and stay engaged through initial delivery to confirm early milestones are met and the program is on track.

Orchestrate complex, multi-tower programs

  • Coordinate cross-tower teams, delivery plans, dependencies, risks, and mitigation actions across the modernization landscape.
  • Stitch together a single, optimized modernization solution that spans domains such as application modernization, cloud migration and modernization, mainframe modernization, and network & edge modernization.
  • Drive modernization execution across subdomains such as application management services (AMS), SDLC transformation, AppMod, Mainframe Mod, Platform Engineering, Data Center Networks, and Edge Networks.

Tell the story and bring the tools

  • Build and deliver client-facing presentations with strong content, narrative framing, and a clear value proposition.
  • Apply agentic AI capabilities and proven modernization playbooks to strengthen execution and outcomes.

What Success Looks Like

  • Large modernization programs move smoothly from deal to delivery, with a confident launch and a strong start.
  • The commitments in the SoW match what delivery teams can achieve, so clients get what they were promised.
  • Risks and dependencies are identified and managed early, before they become surprises.
  • Clients experience one cohesive team and one clear point of coordination, not a collection of separate workstreams.

What You Bring Core qualifications

  • 5 years experience coordinating or leading complex, large-scale modernization programs, from pre-sales and solutioning through delivery.
  • 5 years experience with broad modernization expertise across applications, cloud, mainframe, and network & edge, and the ability to unify multiple solution components into a single client solution.
  • Ability to consolidate and integrate technical solutions across towers into a cohesive modernization program.
  • Strong hands-on technical solution leadership, including scoping and PoC framing; assumptions, dependencies, and baselining; and SoW creation and review.
  • Strong client communication and presentation skills, including content creation, narrative framing, storytelling, and value proposition articulation.
  • Experience applying AI-enabled tools and repeatable modernization frameworks to shape or run modernization execution.

Nice to have

  • Experience with large, strategic deals and their delivery, including complex stakeholder management and governance.
  • Experience running modernization in hybrid estates that involve multiple platforms and cross-tower execution (for example, mainframe, distributed, cloud, and network/security).
  • A track record of driving risk management, dependency orchestration, and delivery predictability at scale.

Who you are You’re a leader who brings clarity to complexity and builds trust across sales, consulting, and delivery teams. You put customer success first and work openly, collaboratively, and inclusively across teams and towers. If you meet most of the requirements above and the work excites you, we encourage you to apply.

Travel You’ll travel globally at least 25% of the time to meet clients, lead workshops, and work side by side with delivery teams.

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is - $156,360 to $296,880 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience.
