Join Komatsu and Be Part of Something Big!

Job Overview

We're looking for someone technically-minded with experience troubleshooting electronics, communications systems, sensors, sonar, missle guidance systems, cell phone towers, networked equipment, military systems, or similar technologies. In this role you don't need prior experience with our technology as it's proprietary, and we can train you on our cutting-edge autonomous haulage systems (AHS) used on our electric drive trucks. What we're looking for is the ability to diagnose, learn, adapt, and solve technical problems outdoors in the field at customer sites in Nevada.

As an AHS Technician, you'll be on the front lines of this rapidly growing industry, helping maintain and troubleshoot the technology that powers autonomous mining operations.

This position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in advanced autonomous mining systems by performing hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance, assisting with autonomous system conversions, and contributing to continuous operational excellence in outdoor environments. Ideal candidates will be motivated to grow their technical skills in autonomous systems through Komatsu’s structured training programs and collaboration with senior technicians

Overtime is often available, with our shifts running up to 12 hours a day. Our schedules vary from working 7 days on and 7 days off, to working a 5-5-4 schedule, including rotational coverage.

If you live near Elko or Winnemuca and are looking to expand your knowledge and grow in a new position and industry, apply today! You don't need to have worked in a position like this before, just have prior experience in the electronics field.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough mechanical and electrical maintenance on Komatsu 930E haul trucks to ensure top-performing and reliable vehicle operation in autonomous mining settings.
  • Collaborate with and support Tier 1 technicians in the conversion process of haul trucks to autonomous operation, including commissioning and detailed diagnostic assessments of onboard systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routine checks and repairs on critical mechanical components such as suspension systems, braking mechanisms, hoist functions, and steering assemblies to uphold safety and operational standards.
  • Assist with essential Autonomous Haulage System functions including vehicle escort duties, system restarts, and managing unexpected obstacles to maintain smooth autonomous fleet operation.
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date service records, properly following established escalation protocols when encountering complex issues or deviations to facilitate timely resolution.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with Tier 1 technicians, site supervisors, and other operational personnel to ensure consistent readiness and rapid response to maintenance needs or operational concerns.
  • Engage actively in structured and progressive training modules designed to advance your expertise and progression toward achieving Tier 1 certification within Komatsu's autonomous systems technical pathway.
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and environmental policies to promote a safe working environment for all team members and site personnel.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in electronics experience, preferably in a field environment (vs an office)
  • Able to work a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule, or a rotation 5-5-4 schedule
  • Preferred (but not required) technical certification or associate degree in Diesel Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Ability to interpret and work from schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong aptitude for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues using systematic diagnostic methods.
  • Comfortable working in rotational shift patterns and exposed outdoor conditions, including high-noise environments typical of mining sites.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to cooperate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and interact with supervisors and operational staff.
