Staff Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Foxborough, MA.

Summary:

The client is looking for a hands-on Staff Accountant who is analytically strong and comfortable working through a billing process that has some complexity and exceptions. The immediate mission is to learn the company's tariff-billing process, work through the backlog, and get billing current. This person needs to be able to review the data, understand whether the charges make sense, troubleshoot exceptions, and protect revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

Tariff Billing & Revenue Support:

• Learn and take ownership of the company's tariff-billing process
• Work through the existing backlog of tariff-related billings and bring the process current
• Review supporting information to ensure tariff charges are properly matched and billed to the appropriate customers
• Investigate exceptions and discrepancies rather than simply processing transactions
• Perform the necessary proofing and analytical review before customer billing
• Help ensure tariff-related revenue is billed promptly so customers have the opportunity to pass charges through to their own customers
• Establish a reliable cadence for ongoing tariff billing after the backlog has been addressed

Accounting Support:

• Provide hands-on accounting support to the existing finance team as needed during the transition
• Work closely with the internal accounting staff to understand current processes and ensure continuity
• Support additional staff-accounting responsibilities that may emerge

Analysis & Problem Solving:

• Analyze billing information rather than relying solely on straightforward transaction matching
• Identify exceptions or inconsistencies requiring further investigation
• Maintain accuracy while working through a financially significant backlog
• Staff Accountant-level accounting experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to learn a somewhat complex billing process quickly
• Comfort reviewing transactions and investigating exceptions rather than simply processing high-volume billing
• Ability to work effectively in a small, hands-on accounting environment
• Willingness to take ownership of a defined business problem and work through a backlog
• Strong attention to accuracy and detail
• Ability to collaborate closely with existing accounting staff and eventually with the incoming CFO
• Experience with Sage 100 is highly desirable

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
