Original job description

Kforce has a client in Draper, UT that is seeking a Network Engineer - Cisco Wireless & Infrastructure.

Summary:

This role is ideal for a hands-on Network Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with end users, and ensuring a high-quality technology experience in a highly visible corporate environment. The primary focus will be supporting Cisco networking and wireless infrastructure and Palo Alto firewalls, with particular emphasis on Wi-Fi reliability and performance. The environment is heavily wireless, with end users connecting to internal resources through GlobalProtect VPN. The Engineer will also help support the ongoing Wi-Fi 7 rollout and networking requirements associated with an upgrade of the office's A/V environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support and troubleshooting for Cisco network and wireless infrastructure
  • Support and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and related network connectivity
  • Maintain a highly reliable wireless environment supporting a Wi-Fi-first corporate office
  • Assist with the rollout and implementation of Cisco Wi-Fi 7 throughout the office
  • Support newly deployed Cisco switching infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving wireless networks, internet access, VPN connectivity, and office infrastructure
  • Support an environment utilizing redundant 10 Gbps internet circuits and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Troubleshoot GlobalProtect VPN connectivity and related end-user network issues
  • Partner with the A/V team and external A/V vendor to ensure conferencing and meeting-room technology has reliable network connectivity
  • Assist with the ongoing upgrade of office A/V equipment, with particular focus on network performance and connectivity
  • Assist Desktop Support and other local technology teams when needed
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and take ownership of issues through resolution
  • Professional experience supporting Cisco enterprise networking environments
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting Cisco wireless/Wi-Fi technologies
  • Experience supporting Palo Alto firewalls

Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including:

  • TCP/IP
  • Switching and routing
  • Wireless networking
  • Internet connectivity
  • VPN technologies
  • Network troubleshooting
  • Experience troubleshooting Palo Alto GlobalProtect or comparable enterprise VPN technology
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve network and connectivity problems
  • Experience supporting users in a corporate/enterprise environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to comfortably work directly with executives
  • Willingness to provide hands-on assistance outside of traditional network engineering responsibilities when needed
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior Network Engineers/Architects rather than requiring ownership of network architecture and design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant Cisco and/or Palo Alto certifications are a plus, but hands-on troubleshooting ability and customer service skills are more important
  • Experience with Cisco Wi-Fi 7 or newer-generation Cisco wireless technologies
  • Experience supporting high-density or Wi-Fi-first office environments
  • Experience with enterprise A/V, conference room, or collaboration technology from a networking and troubleshooting perspective
  • Experience supporting high-visibility executive meetings and conference environments
