Manager AI and Research Computing Initiatives

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Manager AI and Research Computing Initiatives in Boston, MA.

Position Description:

The Manager, AI & Research Computing Initiatives leads strategy and planning for artificial intelligence within Research Computing Services (RCS), while coordinating the technology and infrastructure needed to support researchers. This role anticipates how AI is reshaping research computing demand, including compute requirements, data pipelines, AI/ML workloads, and model-serving needs.

Essential Functions:

• Set and drive the technical roadmap for AI-enabled research computing, including GPU/accelerator capacity planning, containerized AI workflows, MLOps tooling, data pipelines, and model-serving infrastructure
• Anticipate emerging AI/ML requirements and translate them into infrastructure plans. Serve as an internal AI infrastructure SME and stay current on relevant technologies, standards, and best practices
• Coordinate daily work supporting research projects, incidents, and service requests
• Monitor priorities, address requests at risk of becoming overdue, and collaborate across infrastructure, technology, and research teams to ensure projects receive appropriate technical support
• Supervise, mentor, and develop technical staff. Set priorities and workloads, manage service delivery, and support performance management, professional development, hiring, and onboarding
• Develop utilization and resource reporting covering compute systems, storage, capacity, and other operational metrics used for purchasing and strategic planning
• Analyze business processes and develop workflows for complex projects, including regulated and secure research environments
• Coordinate technical training, including live and self-service learning materials and video tutorials
• Manage technical documentation to ensure processes, systems, and service information remain accurate and current
• To be considered for this position, candidates must have experience in a similar role, or they must possess significant knowledge, experience, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities listed
• Relevant education and/or training will be considered a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
