AR/Accounting Operations Manager

Kforce has a client that is seeking an AR/Accounting Operations Manager in Hunt Valley, MD.

Summary:

The Accounting Operations Manager will oversee key day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including accounts receivable, recurring B2B billing, cash application, bank reconciliations, commission payments, and other high-volume transactional processes. This position will provide leadership and oversight to accounting staff while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong operational controls.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead and oversee accounts receivable and recurring B2B billing processes
• Manage cash applications, bank reconciliations, and complex transaction reconciliations
• Oversee recurring commission and payment processes
• Review accounting activity for accuracy and investigate discrepancies or exceptions
• Coach, mentor, and develop accounting staff
• Assign and prioritize workloads to ensure deadlines are consistently met
• Partner with internal departments to resolve billing and accounting-related issues
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, controls, and operational efficiency
• Develop and implement practical process improvements and automation
• Support ERP enhancements, system upgrades, and accounting process optimization
• Assist with audit requests and maintain appropriate supporting documentation
• Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 2+ years of management or supervisory experience
• B2B insurance industry experience required
• Strong accounts receivable and high-volume billing experience
• Experience overseeing cash application and bank reconciliation processes
• Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving complex reconciliation discrepancies
• Process improvement and workflow optimization experience
• Strong understanding of recurring payment and transactional accounting processes
• Strong Excel, spreadsheet, and database skills
• Strong systems aptitude and ability to learn new ERP and proprietary platforms
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
