Our ~15,000 employees create world-class solutions in communications, 5G, automotive, energy, quantum, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor markets for customers in over 100 countries. Learn more about what we do.
Our award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.
Why This Role Matters Keysight’s Santa Rosa site is a complex, interconnected operation. The work happening in its labs and manufacturing areas depends on reliable processes across Workplace Solutions. This role brings industrial engineering expertise into WPS to find where those processes can work better and make improvements that help the business run safely and without interruption.
As a senior individual contributor, you’ll partner with WPS, IC Fab, labs, and business teams to understand how work gets done, identify waste, and lead improvements from problem-solving through implementation. You’ll apply Lean methods such as Kaizen, 5S, standard work, and value stream mapping to create processes that are repeatable, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of the business. It’s a hands-on opportunity to shape a new capability at the Santa Rosa site and see the impact of your work across the operation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with IC Fab and the Businesses We Support:
- Work with IC Fab process owners, fab maintenance teams, and other business partners to understand priorities, pain points, and production schedules.
- Align facilities improvements with business processes to protect uptime and support timely delivery.
- Coordinate shared processes with fab maintenance, including utility shutdowns, preventive maintenance, changeovers, and equipment onboarding.
- Bring fab and facilities teams together for Kaizen events and root cause investigations, building shared ownership of solutions.
- Establish regular touchpoints to review metrics, share results, and set priorities.
- Lead Lean and Continuous Improvement:
- Lead Lean assessments, Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and 5S across facilities processes that support the fab, including work orders, preventive maintenance, utility support, moves, adds and changes, and vendor service delivery.
- Reduce waiting, rework, unnecessary motion, and over-processing in service requests, permitting, and project intake.
- Develop standard work for facilities technicians and service teams, including procedures, checklists, and visual management.
- Apply A3, PDCA, and root cause methods such as 5 Why and fishbone analysis to address recurring issues, including equipment downtime, utility interruptions, and safety incidents.
- Define and track relevant measures, such as work order cycle time, preventive maintenance compliance, uptime, response time, and cost per square foot.
- Design for Safety and Risk Reduction:
- Build error-proofing into critical facilities processes, including lockout/tagout, contractor access, utility shutdowns, cleanroom changeovers, and maintenance procedures.
- Lead FMEAs for critical fab support systems, such as power, cooling, compressed air, and process utilities, and drive actions to reduce identified risks.
- Use controls such as checklists, interlocks, sensors, color coding, and alarms to prevent errors or catch them early; audit these controls on a regular schedule.
- Incorporate safety and compliance into process design in partnership with EHS, which owns the site safety program.
- Support the site’s quality, safety, and environmental management systems through documented procedures, corrective and preventive actions, and internal audits.
- Develop Facilities Processes and Support Space Planning:
- Develop, document, and launch facilities processes, including commissioning, onboarding new spaces and equipment, and contractor management.
- Conduct time studies, workload analyses, and staffing models for maintenance and service teams.
- Build business cases that evaluate return on investment, lifecycle costs, and payback.
- Improve CMMS/IWMS data quality, preventive maintenance strategy, and reporting.
- Support space and layout planning in non-fab areas, considering people and material flow, adjacencies, and ergonomics.
- Lead Cross-Functional Improvement Work:
- Lead cross-functional groups of employees and contractors through improvement work, and coach facilities staff and contractors in Lean thinking and standard work.
- Partner with EHS, IT, Security, Engineering, and vendors to align priorities across the site.
- Help employees understand Workplace Solutions and how its work supports their needs.
- Recognize progress and share results so teams can see the impact of their work.
- Identify energy and sustainability savings through process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Facilities Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 10–12 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, facilities, or industrial engineering.
- Proven success leading Lean assessments and 5S in a manufacturing or process environment, with measurable results.
- Working knowledge of error-proofing, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements, including corrective and preventive action and internal audits.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and OSHA requirements as they apply to facilities operations.
- Experience developing and launching processes, standard operating procedures, and workflows.
- Experience leading employees and contractors through influence rather than direct authority.
- Strong data skills, including Excel and tools such as Power BI, Minitab, or similar.
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain the “why” to different audiences.
Preferred
- Experience leading Lean projects across 100,000 or more square feet, a full facility, or a comparable production scope.
- Experience in a fab, cleanroom, lab, or high-tech manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Keysight’s product lifecycle and R&D processes, and how facilities support them.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Experience with CMMS/IWMS tools such as Maximo, SAP PM, Archibus, or similar.
- Experience with CAD or layout tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, or similar.
- Project management experience.
How You Work You enjoy being where the work happens and improving processes alongside the people who use them. You bring people along, move with purpose, and use data to guide decisions. Experience applying Lean and 5S in a Keysight manufacturing or R&D environment can help you understand the impact of this work. Internal candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
