Criminal Division - Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

Job Responsibilities Do you feel drawn to represent the people of Kent County? If you answered yes, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney may be the position for you. We’ve got positions opening in our Criminal division. The successful candidate will perform duties associated with warrant writing, negotiating settlements, trying District and/or Circuit Court misdemeanor and felony cases and appearing in various courts of the County as a representative of the Office of the Prosecutor. Will perform legal research, and discuss legal problems with citizens, officials, and law enforcement agencies.

Pay Range Depending on Qualifications:

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney I - II: $79,543 - $97,416 AnnuallyMinimum Qualifications

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney I:

Graduation from an accredited law school and membership in the State Bar of Michigan. Those that have taken the State Bar Exam but are still awaiting results may be considered. Working knowledge of accepted courtroom practices and procedures, knowledge of legal research and reference sources, and basic computer literacy required.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney II:

Must possess a Juris Doctorate or Bachelor of Law and membership in the State Bar of Michigan, combined with three years of progressively responsible experience as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney or Trial Attorney. Thorough working knowledge of Michigan criminal and civil codes, family and domestic relations statutes, appellate law, case law and accepted courtroom practices and procedures is required.Additional Information *Notices will come via email so please be sure to monitor the email address indicated on your application*
