Location: Ontario, CA

Pay: $21.96 per hour

Schedule: Must be available to work either shift: 1st shift, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., or 2nd shift, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. Overtime is required.

The Opportunity

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a safety-minded Forklift Operator to move materials from manufacturing and outside suppliers to assembly plants and customers. In this role, you’ll help keep warehouse and production operations running efficiently through safe material handling, accurate inventory tracking, and timely shipments.

What You’ll Do

• Operate electric pallet jacks, forklifts, stand-up reach trucks, and sit-down swing reach trucks.
• Complete pre-shift equipment inspections and confirm safety devices are in place and functioning.
• Unload inbound shipments, store materials, supply production lines, and load outbound shipments.
• Inspect trailers for safe use before loading or unloading.
• Verify material quantities and descriptions; ensure materials are properly unitized and marked.
• Load pallets efficiently to make the best use of trailer space while minimizing damage in transit.
• Complete material-movement paperwork accurately and on time.
• Maintain accurate inventory and perform daily cycle counts.
• Keep equipment and work areas safe and clean, and follow company policies and procedures.
• Support other areas as needed, including providing backup to the Warehouse Clerk.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift and warehouse powered industrial truck (PIT) experience.
• Two or more years of sit-down forklift experience preferred.
• Forklift certification is a plus; candidates must be willing to obtain certification upon hire if needed.
• One or more years of warehouse clerk experience preferred.
• English fluency, both verbal and written, is required.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
• Walk distances of up to 100 yards repeatedly and without assistance.
• Lift up to 50 pounds without assistance or equipment.
• Operate material-handling equipment without assistance.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Follow established safety guidelines and wear required protective equipment.
