  • Set and maintain a multi-year IT strategy, annual operating plan, roadmap, and budget tied to business priorities, growth, acquisitions, operational continuity, risk reduction, and system lifecycle needs.
  • Define clear ownership, capacity, decision rights, escalation paths, service expectations, and measures across internal staff, business partners, and outside vendors.
  • Present trade-offs, risks, funding needs, priorities, and decisions to the CFO and executive leadership in business terms.
  1. Leadership and Accountability
  • Lead the IT Manager - Operations and Business Systems and Training Specialist with written objectives, measures, role clarity, and regular operating reviews.
  • Hold authority over the IT function, including work priorities, staffing recommendations, role design, performance expectations, vendor use, and resource allocation, subject to company approval requirements.
  • Build cross-training, documentation, succession depth, and coverage so the function is not dependent on a single individual.
  1. Information Security and Technology Risk
  • Own the company information security program, policies, risk register, incident governance, leadership reporting, and recurring security review cadence.
  • Ensure appropriate governance for identity and access, multifactor authentication, endpoint protection, vulnerability and patch management, backup, disaster recovery, incident response, and aging or unsupported technology.
  • Coordinate independent technical expertise when needed and clearly escalate material risks, exceptions, costs, and remediation decisions.
  1. Vendor, Contract and License Management
  • Own technology vendor strategy, scope clarity, contracts, service levels, renewals, performance reviews, escalation, cost control, and recommendations to remediate or replace underperforming services.
  • Ensure managed services complement rather than duplicate internal work, and verify that contracted services and licenses are delivered and used.
  • Maintain an accurate calendar of technology contracts, renewals, pricing changes, dependencies, and decision dates.
  1. Business Systems and Business Partnership
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Compliance, Human Resources, Payroll, Dispatch, and other leaders on the systems that run the business.
  • Define support ownership and escalation paths for core platforms, including TMW/TMT, TotalMail, EDI/Cleo, Microsoft Dynamics GP, EBE, RAMP, Microsoft 365, telecom, and related operational tools.
  • Keep ownership of business reporting, definitions, and report usefulness with Finance and business leaders while ensuring secure data access, reliable source systems, and supported reporting tools.
  • Oversee technology due diligence and integration planning for acquisitions, including systems, infrastructure, access, vendors, data, hardware, telecom, cybersecurity, costs, and transition risks.
  1. Project and Change Governance
  • Establish project intake, prioritization, charters, owners, milestones, dependencies, risks, readiness gates, testing expectations, rollback planning, status reporting, and executive escalation.
  • Maintain a portfolio view of major IT initiatives and ensure affected departments are prepared before material changes go live.
  • Intervene when projects are stalled, under-resourced, poorly scoped, or no longer aligned with approved priorities.
  1. Executive Reporting and Continuous Improvement
  • Provide recurring dashboards covering service performance, project health, security risks, vendor performance, lifecycle exposure, budget, capacity, and decisions required.
