Security Sergeant

Supervises Security Officers to ensure daily duties are carried out and assists when it is essential to help complete all tasks. Ensure projects generated by the Director of Security Operations are completed. Guards Keeneland property and ensures the safety of patrons and employees by performing the following duties.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the supervision of full-time and numerous seasonal/part-time security officers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties Include, but Not Limited to):

• Patrols buildings and grounds of Keeneland grounds, to ensure safety of patrons and security of property.
• Ensures the proper response by Security Officers to calls for service on Keeneland property.
• Coordinates response to calls for service involving patrons and employees (i.e., medical issues, accidents, or injuries) in compliance with Keeneland policies.
• Coordinates the movement of currency and other valuables on and off Keeneland property.
• Reviews and either approves or rejects written reports prepared by subordinates.
• Schedules and assigns seasonal security officers ensuring adequate coverage and relief.
• Approves ejections of individuals from Keeneland property in compliance with Keeneland policies and KHRGC guidelines in the absence of the Director of Security Operations.
• Serves as a point of contact for outside agencies and organizations responding to incidents on Keeneland property.
• Monitors the performance of subordinates and identifies remedial training or counseling opportunities.
• Reports on potential disciplinary issues to the Director of Security Operations as required.

EDUCATION High school graduate or GED and one year of experience as a Keeneland Security Officer. Previous supervisory and management experience will be considered when reviewing candidates.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, TRAININGS

Valid driver's license, valid Kentucky Horse Racing Authority license, certification in firearms, defensive tactics, CPR and AED training and drivers training
