Position Summary
The Sortation Supervisor will provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight for JW Logistics’ sortation operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the Sortation Lead and Warehouse Sortation Associates to ensure packages are sorted accurately, staged appropriately, and ready for scheduled dispense windows. The Supervisor will monitor operational performance, staffing, safety, and service execution while addressing issues and escalating operational risks as needed.
This position will support consistent execution across assigned operations and may provide oversight or coverage across multiple shifts based on business needs. The Sortation Lead will remain responsible for coordinating the crew’s immediate, on-floor sortation activities, while the Supervisor provides broader oversight, coaching, accountability, and operational direction.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide direction and support to the Sortation Lead, ensuring sort plans, lane assignments, and staging priorities align with the daily van and route plan.
- Monitor sort progress and outbound readiness; identify risks to scheduled dispense times and coordinate timely corrective action.
- Ensure package counts, staging accuracy, and release checks are completed before vans are dispatched.
- Review operational performance, including on-time dispense, sort accuracy, productivity, and exception trends.
- Coordinate shift handoffs as needed to communicate volume status, outstanding exceptions, staffing concerns, and service risks.
Team Leadership & Performance

- Set clear expectations for attendance, productivity, work quality, and adherence to operational procedures.
- Support staffing plans, attendance management, break scheduling, and call-out coverage to maintain operational continuity.
- Address employee performance and conduct concerns, document issues as appropriate, and escalate matters requiring formal action to JW Logistics Operations Management and Human Resources.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and consistent execution across the sortation team.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure required safety briefings, equipment condition checks, and incident reporting are completed and documented.
- Reinforce safe work practices, required personal protective equipment, and compliance with applicable site rules and access requirements.
- Ensure damages, shorts, overages, unmanifested freight, and misroutes are documented and escalated in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance with applicable workplace requirements, including meal and rest break practices for the work location.
Qualifications
- Experience in warehouse, parcel, distribution, or logistics operations, preferably in a last-mile or sortation environment.

- Ability to communicate in English at a level sufficient to provide work direction, prepare reports, and interface with customer leadership.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the work environment and satisfy JW Logistics’ applicable pre-employment and site-access requirements.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a warehouse and dock environment that may not be climate controlled.
- Regular standing and walking throughout the facility; may require bending, reaching, and occasional package handling, including packages weighing up to fifty pounds.
- Work in proximity to moving vehicles, manual material-handling equipment, and other personnel.
- Schedule may require flexibility to support operational needs and coverage across shifts.
