Original job description

A leading technology organization working at the forefront of advanced artificial intelligence is seeking a Backend Developer to join its core engineering team. The company builds infrastructure that supports the development and training of next-generation AI systems. Their platform connects highly specialized experts - including PhDs and professors from top universities - with advanced AI development environments. These experts contribute directly to training and improving cutting-edge models. The company’s data platform converts expert insight into high-quality training datasets while internal tools help measure, route, and improve performance across large-scale AI development workflows. This role offers the opportunity to help build and scale the backend systems that power this infrastructure while collaborating closely with engineering, AI, and product teams. Role Overview As a Backend Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, and scaling of backend services that support high-volume data workflows and internal tooling. You will work closely with frontend engineers, AI teams, and product stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-performance systems while maintaining strong engineering standards and clear communication across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend services using Node.js and Nest.js
Design, implement, and optimize PostgreSQL databases
Develop scalable infrastructure using AWS or Google Cloud Platform, including serverless components
Implement and manage Redis for caching, queue management, and high-throughput workflows
Ensure backend systems maintain strong performance, reliability, and security
Deliver clean, well-documented APIs
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting best practices
Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering planning

Required Qualifications

Strong production experience with Node.js and Nest.js
Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL, including data modeling, queries, and performance optimization
Hands-on experience working with AWS or Google Cloud Platform and serverless architectures
Practical experience integrating and managing Redis
Solid understanding of backend architecture, scalability, security, and performance
Proficiency with Git/GitHub and modern CI/CD tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with DevOps practices or Infrastructure as Code
Knowledge of event-driven or real-time architectures
Familiarity with microservices and distributed systems

Compensation & Benefits The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 – $140,000 USD. The company hires exceptional talent regardless of location and offers competitive compensation packages. Employees may also be eligible for equity compensation and performance-based bonuses, depending on role and company policies. The benefits package includes comprehensive health insurance reimbursement (up to 100% of premiums), paid time off, and additional benefits designed to support a high-performing, remote-first workforce.
