Controls Program Manager At Johnson Controls, the Systems Project Development and Execution Team supports strategic deployment and execution planning across the Systems Project Development and Execution value stream. This role connects improvement priorities, cross-functional teams, and local leaders to turn validated solutions into deployed, adopted, and sustained ways of working.
Role Overview The Systems Enablement Program Manager provides end-to-end program management for strategic deployment and execution planning initiatives. You will translate improvement priorities into coordinated programs, connect multiple workstreams, and help move initiatives from definition and validation through deployment, adoption, and long-term sustainment. The role serves as an operational integrator across process owners, business leaders, Business System, data and AI, solutions development, Learning and Development, regional and area leaders, branch leaders, and Process Champions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain integrated roadmaps for SDEP priorities, with clear milestones, owners, dependencies, resources, measures, and decision points.
- Coordinate sequencing across process, technology, data, training, and change activities so related initiatives are delivered as one operating system.
- Plan and support Kaizen, value stream mapping, Gemba, pilot, transformation, and scaling events, including hybrid and multi-site sessions.
- Develop event charters, scopes, agendas, pre-work plans, participant models, communication plans, logistics, readiness checklists, and follow-up actions with process owners.
- Design deployment plans using Prepare, Validate, and Deploy phases, including leadership kickoffs, area transformation events, role-based enablement, and hypercare.
- Build sustainment into initiative design with 30/60/90-day follow-up, operating reviews, benefits tracking, adoption measures, and corrective-action routines.
- Maintain initiative scorecards and governance artifacts that show schedule, scope, benefits, adoption, risks, decisions, capacity, and resource constraints.
- Create feedback loops that capture frontline defects, improvement ideas, adoption barriers, and enhancement needs, and keep the improvement funnel visible from issue through standardization and deployment.
How You Will Do It
- Own the coordination and follow-through for each initiative end to end, keeping scope, risks, owners, and decision points visible with accountability, safety, and integrity.
- Stay close to the work and remove obstacles quickly by aligning process owners, business leaders, and support functions around practical next steps and clear escalation paths.
- Use candor, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement to surface issues early, strengthen deployment plans, and refine standard work, measures, and routines.
- Win as one team by building trust across diverse stakeholders, creating shared ownership, and translating effectively between frontline execution and executive audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional programs or projects with multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Ability to translate strategy into integrated execution plans and drive accountability across stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.
- Working knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, value stream mapping, standard work, daily management, structured problem solving, or comparable continuous-improvement methods.
- Experience with deployment, organizational change, training coordination, adoption measurement, and sustainment planning.
- Strong facilitation, stakeholder management, executive communication, risk management, and action-plan discipline.
- Ability to work across business processes, technology, data, and organizational boundaries and communicate effectively with frontline and executive audiences.
- Comfort working with hybrid and multi-site events, ambiguous work, evolving priorities, and globally distributed stakeholders.
- Proficiency with program-management, collaboration, dashboard, and workflow tools.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting systems integration or digital enablement within a transformation program.
- Experience partnering with Learning and Development on role-based training packages and rollout support.
- Experience building scorecards, dashboards, or benefits tracking routines for enterprise initiatives.
- Exposure to global or multi-site continuous-improvement deployments.
