With competitive benefits and a strong emphasis on development, growth, and innovation, Peerless employees come seeking a job but stay to build a career.

Are you a skilled machinist who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and thrives on solving complex manufacturing challenges? Then join our mission to pioneer smarter water solutions that reduce energy use and improve lives.

As our new Toolmaker-1st shift, you'll be setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision components that keep Peerless Pumps performing at the highest standard. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

What you will be doing

As a key part of the Manufacturing & Machine Shop team, you'll create impact by ensuring the precision and quality of critical tooling and components while mentoring fellow team members and driving continuous improvement in our machining operations.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Complete setup including programming (Fanuc Controls/G Code), editing, and operation of CNC milling centers, CNC lathes, and manual machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders
  • Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements using advanced GD&T and shop math
  • Calculate and set machining parameters including speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut; perform offsets, fixturing, and adjustments to correct tool wear or finish issues
  • Inspect finished work pieces for conformance to prints and specifications, and perform secondary operations such as deburring, tapping, drilling, and bushing installation
  • Provide training and guidance to other employees on machining activities and processes while maintaining accurate manual and electronic records including SAP confirmations
  • Maintain equipment through daily preventative maintenance, uphold 5S workplace standards, and follow all safety and quality procedures

What makes you a great fit

Above all, you're a hands-on precision machinist with strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently under minimal supervision, and a collaborative mindset that elevates the entire team.

We'd also imagine that you are/have:

  • High School Diploma or GED with technical training in machining or related field
  • 2-4 years of manual machining experience including mills, drills, lathes, and grinders
  • 1-3 years of CNC programming, operation, and setup experience with controls such as Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Allen-Bradley
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills and proficiency in shop math including decimals, fractions, geometry, trigonometry, and GD&T

It's a plus if you also:

  • Experience with precision machining operations such as threading, boring, and grooving on manual machines
  • Strong experience using machining centers in a job shop environment
  • Veterans with MOS experience maintaining and repairing precision mechanical systems are strongly encouraged to apply

Why you'll love working here

Day to day, you can look forward to:

  • Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.
  • Three days' additional paid leave for volunteering.
  • On-demand training and structured development programs to support your growth.

Valuing our differences helps us see possibilities where others can't. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from all abilities, experiences, and backgrounds.
