Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

About Cat Financial Cat Financial is a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. For more than 40 years, Cat Financial has provided a wide range of financing solutions to customers and Cat® dealers for machines, engines, Solar® gas turbines, genuine Cat parts and services. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Cat Financial serves customers globally with offices and subsidiaries located throughout North and South America, Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa. Visit cat.com to learn more about Cat Financial.

The Role:

  • Lead Caterpillar Financial's AI workflow platform and the 6-person global team responsible for its continued growth and success. This role combines strategic leadership, technology delivery, and operational excellence, turning the vision and roadmap set by the BI & AI manager into a delivery plan while partnering with stakeholders across IT and the business. The Team Leader will clear blockers, make timely trade-off decisions, drive process improvements, use their technical expertise to drive proofs of concept, and build an operating model that enables the team to deliver efficiently, manage risk effectively, and create greater business value. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity to influence how technology is delivered, foster innovation, and help shape the future of digital transformation within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the platform backlog: prioritize demand, define outcomes, and sequence releases that deliver measurable, cost-effective business value
  • Lead delivery with the 6-person global team of developers and engineers, including contractors, removing blockers and keeping work flowing from refinement to production
  • Standardize how work moves through the delivery lifecycle, with common workflows, milestones, and tools that improve consistency and visibility across teams
  • Define how AI and automation are applied within the delivery process, including where they fit, how they are evaluated, and the guardrails that govern them
  • Establish and continuously improve the team's operating model: development standards, definition of done, release and change management, and audit-ready controls (SOX, IT risk, security reviews)
  • Hold the team accountable for quality, partnering with the Technical Lead who owns the test strategy, and lead business validation during pilots
  • Work with shared security teams to ensure cybersecurity standards and policies are built into platform design, delivery, and support
  • Partner with business stakeholders, architecture, security, and engineering: translate needs into clear requirements, make timely trade-off decisions without waiting for approval, and document the reasoning
  • Work within shared vendor management processes so contractor work is delivered on time and to quality standards
  • Identify, communicate, and manage delivery, technical, and compliance risks; escalate early with options
  • Drive adoption across Cat Financial through demos, training, feedback loops, and usage measurement, and report progress, risks, and value to leadership

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience owning the backlog and releases for a software product or platform, as a technical product owner, delivery lead, engineering lead, or similar
  • Experience holding a team accountable for software quality, including test planning, test automation, regression testing, defect management, and user acceptance testing
  • Technical background in modern web application stacks (React, APIs, cloud services such as AWS), enough to assess architecture options, challenge designs and estimates, and guide technical proofs of concept
  • Working knowledge of generative AI and how to apply it responsibly within software delivery
  • Comfort making decisions under ambiguity: you gather input, weigh the risks, choose a path, and adjust as you learn
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to say "not yet" and explain why
  • A track record of improving delivery processes and standardizing ways of working across teams, with measurable results
  • Experience with Agile delivery and backlog tools (Azure DevOps preferred)
  • A track record of balancing speed with quality, security, and control requirements, working within shared security and vendor management processes

Top candidates will have

  • Experience applying AI or automation to software delivery in production (for example AI-assisted development, testing, or workflow automation)
  • A background as a software engineer before moving into product or delivery leadership
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries (SOX, audit, IT risk)
  • Experience with integration patterns across enterprise systems (for example Snowflake, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience establishing development standards, release management, or platform governance
  • Experience leading global or distributed teams, including contractor resources

What Success Looks Like

  • Decisions are made in days, not weeks, and the reasoning is documented
  • The team ships on a predictable cadence, with measurable gains in cycle time and quality
  • Adoption grows across Cat Financial, with less dependency on any one person

Degree Requirement

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required.
