Original job description

Come join a team that makes a difference here and around the world!

Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Engineer to join its Water-Industry Project Management team in Indianapolis.

Why Peerless?

Founded in 1923, Peerless Pump Company is a US-based manufacturer of horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps for fire, industrial, and municipal applications. With pump installations in 145 countries, Peerless is globally recognized for engineering tough, reliable, and versatile pump solutions with extensive flow and pressure capabilities. From our production facilities in Indianapolis and Houston to our service centers in Lubbock and Fresno, Peerless pumps are designed to protect people and property from fire and to bring water where it’s needed most. Our product quality is second to none, but it’s our people who’ve made us Peerless for over 100years. Our legacy of innovation is fueled by attracting, training, and retaining employees from diverse backgrounds. With competitive benefits and a strong emphasis on development, growth, and innovation, Peerless employees come seeking a job but stay to build a career.

Are you passionate about managing complex engineered pump projects from contract to delivery, ensuring every detail meets the customer's expectations? Then join our mission to pioneer smarter water solutions that reduce energy use and improve lives.

As our new Project Manager Project Engineer, you'll be managing and engineering light engineered project orders for Peerless Pump, serving as the primary customer contact throughout order execution that ensures on-time delivery of critical rotating equipment. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

What you will be doing

As a key part of the Peerless Pump Project Engineering team, you'll create impact by driving on-time project execution while protecting margins and delivering high-quality engineered pump solutions to customers across industries.

Your main responsibilities include:

Conduct contract reviews to verify scope of supply including performance guarantees, documentation, calculations, and testing requirements
Manage and compile submittal packages including drawings, production schedules, inspection and test plans, and progress reports for customer approval
Initiate procurement of major buyout items such as motors, controllers, and engines, coordinating with purchasing and production to maintain delivery schedules
Build production packages with product-specific manufacturing and test instructions, and follow up through each production phase to keep projects on target
Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, defending scope of supply and protecting the company from financial liability due to scope deviations
Close out projects by finalizing all documentation, O&M manuals, commissioning support, and progress payment notices

What makes you a great fit

Above all, you're a detail-oriented project professional with strong rotating equipment knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining positive relationships with customers and cross-functional teams.

We'd also imagine that you are/have:

Four-year technical or engineering degree, or equivalent experience in design, applications, or contract management
Strong background with rotating equipment including drivers, controls, and system interfaces
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and working knowledge of AutoCAD
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously

It's a plus if you also:

Advanced understanding of pump principles, pump construction, hydraulics, and product application
Working knowledge of CAD and/or SAP modules (MM, SD, PS)
Experience managing engineered-to-order or project-based manufacturing workflows
You'll also be available for travelling up to 15 days per year.

Why you'll love working here

Day to day, you can look forward to:

A working environment built around your needs, with flexible hours, home working opportunities and parental support.
Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.
Three days' additional paid leave for volunteering.
On-demand training and structured development programs to support your growth.

Valuing our differences helps us see possibilities where others can't. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from all abilities, experiences, and backgrounds. As part of our commitment to a safe and compliant hiring process, final candidates may be required to undergo a background check, subject to applicable local laws and regulations.
