Program Control Analyst (Mid-Level) Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt Work Location: Herndon, VA and Hybrid Shift: Day Pay: $85,000 - $100,000 annually
Patriot Group International LLC (PGI), voted #1 Best Place to Work by Virginia Business Magazine and the Best Companies Group, offers an unrivaled hybrid of specialized services by combining the disciplines of security and risk management with an unequalled special operations and intelligence perspective.
We are seeking an experienced Program Control Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in government contracting finance and the judgment to work independently across a portfolio of contracts. You will own program forecasting, cost management, and funding visibility, and partner closely with Program Managers to keep programs financially healthy and compliant.
The Program Control analyst (Mid-Level) will be responsible for the following:
- Develop, maintain, and analyze Estimates at Completion (EACs), forecasts, and variance analyses to support program financial management and planning
- Manage forecasts and financial performance for multiple programs with different contract types (FFP, T&M, Cost-Plus) and requirements
- Establish and manage charge numbers, monitor actual costs against budgets, and process cost transfers to ensure accurate cost collection
- Track and report funding status (obligated, expended, remaining) across contracts and task orders, and proactively flag funding shortfalls, burn-rate risks, and options or modifications that need attention
- Lead monthly project reviews with Program Managers, presenting financial performance against budget and providing clear, substantiated variance explanations
- Build and maintain Excel models and Smartsheet dashboards and trackers for program forecasts, funding, and cost reporting
- Prepare and deliver contractually required financial reports and other customer deliverables accurately and on time
- Monitor revenue and profit recognition for compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policy
- Prepare and review customer invoices; track billing status and analyze unbilled balances to reduce aging and support cash flow
- Support internal and external audits (including DCAA) by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting to management, program teams, and customers
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field
- 5+ years of program/project control or financial analysis experience supporting a U.S. Government contractor, with hands-on experience in FFP, T&M, and Cost-Plus contract types
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookup functions, complex formulas, forecasting models)
- Experience with Smartsheet, or demonstrated ability to learn it quickly and apply it
- Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial results to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to build effective working relationships with Program Managers and cross-functional teams
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and periodic random drug screening, as well as a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience administering IDIQ contracts with multiple concurrent task orders
- Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint
- Working knowledge of FAR, CAS, and GAAP
- Familiarity with DCAA audit requirements and indirect rate structures
- Ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance
Physical Requirements:
Work is typically performed in an office environment, requiring the use of computer terminals and standard office equipment to accomplish work objectives.
