Original job description
FALCATA's Production Division is seeking a Sr. NPI Engineer to support the transition of advanced electronic and electromechanical products from engineering development into stable, repeatable production. Working alongside the Technical Transition Lead (TTL) and cross-functional teams, this position focuses on hands-on product transitions, manufacturing process development, technical problem-solving, and production readiness. The ideal candidate has direct experience bringing hardware products into production, with a strong understanding of both electrical/electronic and mechanical manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Execute engineering-to-production transitions alongside the Technical Transition Lead (TTL), supporting NPI phase gates, readiness milestones, risk resolution, and production handoff.
- Translate engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and design requirements into manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Provide hands-on engineering support during prototype, pilot, initial production, and production ramp activities.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, integration, test, and manufacturing issues, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Apply DFM/DFA principles and collaborate with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and production efficiency.
- Coordinate engineering changes and evaluate impacts to manufacturing processes, documentation, tooling, test, and product configuration.
- Collaborate with Test, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production to verify manufacturing readiness, including equipment, materials, tooling, test processes, and documentation.
- Track and resolve NPI readiness gaps, technical risks, and production blockers using established processes and systems.
- Support structured production handoffs, capture lessons learned, and improve NPI execution and manufacturing processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and directly applicable experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience transitioning hardware products from engineering development into manufacturing or production.
- Experience with complex electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical assemblies, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience developing manufacturing processes, work instructions, assembly procedures, or related production documentation.
- Strong technical problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to independently drive actions and collaborate across functional teams.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, subject to applicable contractual and security requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across electrical/electronic and mechanical manufacturing, including PCBAs, cables/harnesses, mechanical assemblies, system integration, and test.
- Experience successfully transitioning multiple hardware products from development into production.
- Aerospace, defense, military, or other regulated manufacturing experience, including familiarity with IPC, J-STD, MIL-STD, or AS9100 standards.
- Experience with manufacturing readiness reviews, DFM/DFA, process validation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
- Familiarity with PLM, ERP, or MES systems, including FactoryLogix or equivalent manufacturing execution platforms.
