About Perfection Learning
Perfection Learning partners with educators to break down learning barriers and help every student reach their potential. A family-owned business since 1926, we create digital and print curriculum for grades 6–12 language arts, Advanced Placement, and more, and we’re growing quickly as schools move to blended learning. We invest in our team for the long term and value people who take initiative, work together, think critically, and keep learning.
About the Role
We’re looking for an organized, people-focused HR Administrator to help keep our HR operations running smoothly. As part of a small, close-knit team, you’ll work directly with our HR Manager to support about 100 employees, at our Clive, Iowa office, at our Logan site, and remotely throughout the U.S. You’ll be involved in the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting and onboarding to benefits and leave administration, while also serving as a key administrative partner to our Finance team and helping build a positive, engaged workplace culture.
Work arrangement: This is a hybrid role. You’ll work in our Clive office Tuesday through Thursday and remotely on Mondays and Fridays, with an occasional in-office Monday or Friday as business needs require.
What This Role Involves
- Recruiting and job descriptions: Create and manage job postings in our ATS (applicant tracking system), and create, update, and maintain job descriptions, including skill requirements.
- Onboarding: Own the onboarding experience from offer acceptance through an employee’s first 90 days. That includes initiating background checks and drug screenings; administering Paycor onboarding, including E-Verify, I-9 verification, corporate policies, direct deposit, vacation accruals, and benefit enrollment; leading new hire handbook orientation; coordinating onboarding logistics for remote employees and our Clive and Logan sites; and running onboarding surveys and 30/60/90-day check-ins.
- Offboarding: Manage the offboarding process for separating employees, including benefits termination notices.
- HRIS and Paycor: Serve as the first point of contact for Paycor questions from managers and employees, process all manager and pay changes, and keep employee records accurate and system data clean. You’ll also oversee vacation and time-off policy administration.
- Benefits administration: Administer employee benefits, including new hire enrollments and terminations, monitor enrollment activity, and assist with the annual open enrollment process, including coordinating benefits enrollment meetings.
- Leave of absence: Administer all leave requests, including FMLA, ADA, maternity, parental, and military leave. Explain eligibility, requirements, and timelines to employees, coordinate leave tracking and return-to-work with managers and payroll, and ensure compliance with federal and state leave laws.
- Workers’ compensation and safety: Manage workers’ compensation claims from intake to resolution, maintain OSHA recordkeeping and incident reports, partner with area managers on workplace safety compliance, and report safety metrics to leadership quarterly or as needed.
- Learning management system (LMS): Own the day-to-day management of our LMS, serving as the main point of contact and providing support for managers and employees.
- Engagement and culture: Co-lead the Social Committee, organizing social events, team-building activities, and Lunch & Learn sessions, and keep the annual engagement calendar up to date. You’ll also manage employee recognition, including monthly birthday announcements and years-of-service milestones, support employee communications across all of our sites, and gather and analyze employee feedback to shape our engagement strategy.
- Reporting and compliance: Handle routine reporting across our worksites, track new and changing employment laws in every state where our office and remote employees work, and keep required workplace posters and compliance notices up to date and distributed.
- Office and mail administration: Review, distribute, and electronically file incoming mail for the HR and Finance teams each day, order and stock office supplies, and schedule office maintenance as needed.
- Finance support: Scan invoices, capture and match inventory invoices, and print, stuff and mail statements and invoices.
- Process improvement: Spot issues early, research options, and put practical solutions in place. You’ll lead projects such as streamlining HRIS workflows to reduce manual data entry and raising onboarding survey response rates and acting on the feedback. You’ll also take on other HR projects as they come up.
What You’ll Bring
- Associate degree or higher in Human Resources or a related field
- 2+ years of Human Resources experience
- 1+ year of experience with HRIS platforms and benefits administration
- Familiarity with employee benefits and related employment laws
- Knowledge of multi-state employment laws and compliance, including requirements for remote employees
- Commitment to staying current on new and changing employment laws, regulations, and required workplace postings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Regular and predictable attendance
