Original job description

Zions Bancorporation is one of the nation’s premier financial services companies operating as a collection of great banks under local brands and management teams in high-growth western markets. Zions is regularly recognized by American Banker magazine as having a top banking team in its list of “The Most Powerful Women in Banking.” Our customers consistently vote us as the best bank in our local markets. We value our employees, and we are committed to search out, recognize and create fulfilling opportunities for outstanding people within our organization, rewarding them for their contributions to our success. We recognize that banking is a “local” business, and that to be successful, we must have very strong ties to the communities we serve and strong relationships with our customers.

With benefits starting on day one, 12 bank holidays, profit sharing and company-matched 401(k) contributions, Zions is dedicated to being an employer of choice in our communities. At Zions, the possibilities are endless. You bring the talent; we bring the opportunity.

We are currently seeking a Business Continuity Plan Coordinator to join our team in the Midvale, Utah office location.

About the Role:

Are you a driven individual who thrives on orchestrating seamless preparedness? Join our dynamic banking team as an experienced Business Continuity Coordinator, where you'll be the heartbeat of our resilience efforts! As a crucial liaison between business units, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our operations remain rock-solid, even in the face of unforeseen disruptions.

Join our vibrant banking family, where your dedication to ensuring our unwavering stability will be celebrated and recognized. As an experienced Business Continuity Coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of securing our bank's future, safeguarding our reputation, and ensuring we can thrive amidst any challenge that comes our way. Apply now and embark on an exciting journey of preparedness and resilience!

You’ll be joining an industry leading Enterprise Business Resilience program - one that doesn’t just check boxes, but actively protects our people, customers, and reputation in an increasingly unpredictable threat environment. As a Business Continuity Coordinator, you will play a critical role in strengthening the bank’s ability to withstand, respond to, and recover from disruptive events.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in business continuity fundamentals, operational risk, disaster recovery, or related disciplines - who is ready to take ownership, grow into a trusted partner to the business, and contribute to a program that has full executive and board visibility.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the skills and experience to:

Coordinate business continuity lifecycle activities (BIA, strategy development, plan maintenance and development, annual updates, exercises, after-action reviews, corrective actions).
Serve as a primary planning partner for assigned business units - guiding them through BIAs, risk discussions, recovery strategies, and professionally translate program expectations to the business.
Lead facilitated business impact assessments (BIA) and risk assessments to evaluate critical processes, dependencies, recovery capabilities and proactively identify risk.
Support the design, facilitation, and documentation of tabletop and simulation-based exercises across assigned business lines and functional areas.
Maintain program documentation, dashboards, and compliance records to support regulatory and audit requirements (FFIEC, OCC, Internal Audit).
Track and report on business continuity metrics, remediation items, after actions, and readiness indicators for leadership.
Help develop and mature data-driven insights around resilience posture, emerging risks, and program performance.
Support activation of the Crisis Management Framework, including status tracking, communication logs, and response coordination.
Contribute to after-action reviews and ensure lessons learned are translated into lasting program improvements.
Work alongside Disaster Recovery, Corporate Security, Supplier Resilience, and Operational Risk teams to advance a unified, enterprise-wide approach to resilience.
Participate in platform roadmap work (e.g., Fusion, Archer, ServiceNow, etc.), process optimization, automation, and workflow upgrades.

Qualifications - Required:

2-4+ years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, operational risk, emergency management, or a related field
Ability to work professionally and confidently with business partners at multiple levels, including managers, department leaders, and executives as a trusted partner.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines at the same time
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical requirements into plain-language guidance
Analytical mindset: able to interpret risk, recovery, and operational data and turn it into actionable insights
Ability to perform under pressure, remain composed during real-world incidents, and make efficient sound decisions, sometimes with incomplete information as events unfold
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Platforms (Excel, Word, PPT, SharePoint)

Qualifications - Preferred:

Certifications (ABCP, CBCP, MBCI, ISO lead implementer, etc.) or desire to obtain one
Experience in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry
Familiarity with FFIEC, ISO 22301, NIST, or other continuity/resilience frameworks
Familiarity with business continuity tools (Fusion, Archer, ServiceNow, etc.)

Who Thrives in This Role:

Someone who loves structured problem-solving but isn’t afraid to ask “how can this be done better?”
Someone ready to move beyond template-management into partner-level engagement and facilitation
Someone who wants exposure to senior leadership, complex initiatives, and cross-functional risk programs
Someone passionate about the mission of protecting people, customers, and brand trust

Why This Role Matters:

Because in banking, resilience isn’t optional - it’s a competitive advantage. This role plays a critical part in strengthening operational readiness across the enterprise, safeguarding customer trust and service delivery, protecting critical operations during disruptions, and ensuring we meet regulatory and audit expectations with confidence and consistency.

So, if you're ready to take the next step in your career as part of an industry-leading program, grow into a future consultant, manager, or resilience leader, and help shape the next generation of continuity and crisis capability, we encourage you to apply. You’ll be joining a high-performance team backed by executive momentum, enterprise-wide support, and a clear strategic roadmap.

Location:

This position is fully in office (5 days a week) at the Zions Technology Center - 7860 South Bingham Junction Blvd, Midvale, UT 84047

Benefits:

Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance - START DAY ONE!
Life and Disability Insurance, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption Assistance

Paid Training, Paid Time Off (PTO) and 12 Paid Federal Holidays
401(k) plan with company match, Profit Sharing, competitive compensation in line with work experience
Mental health benefits including coaching and therapy sessions.
Tuition Reimbursement for qualifying employees
