Why join us?

  • Join a growing organization with expanding operations and opportunities for long-term career advancement.
  • Work on a variety of commercial installation, repair, and modernization projects.
  • Opportunity to manage projects from planning and estimating through installation and completion.
  • Collaborate with experienced field technicians, service managers, subcontractors, and operations leadership.
  • High-impact position with ownership of project schedules, budgets, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Remote-based project coordination with travel to customer sites and operational locations as needed.
  • Opportunity to contribute to operational improvements and the continued growth of the business.

Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in commercial overhead doors, loading docks, gates, elevators, commercial HVAC, mechanical services, or a closely related commercial equipment installation and service industry.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing field-based projects involving technicians, installation crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and customer relationships.

This is not a traditional administrative project management role. We need someone who understands how commercial service and installation projects operate in the field and can successfully manage the entire project lifecycle while maintaining schedules, budgets, quality, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial installation, equipment replacement, modernization, and specialty service projects from initial scope through final closeout.
  • Coordinate field technicians, installation crews, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, labor plans, material requirements, budgets, and milestones.
  • Review construction drawings, equipment specifications, estimates, proposals, and scopes of work.
  • Support estimating, takeoffs, pricing, procurement, and change-order management.
  • Monitor project costs, labor utilization, profitability, and overall financial performance.
  • Work closely with service managers and field operations teams to coordinate resources and resolve scheduling challenges.
  • Troubleshoot project issues involving equipment, installation, materials, subcontractors, and customer expectations.
  • Manage customer communication, project updates, escalations, and overall satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed for project coordination, inspections, and installation oversight.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management, installation management, estimating, or field operations experience within commercial equipment installation, repair, maintenance, or specialty contracting.
  • Industry experience in at least one of the following:
  • Commercial overhead doors, rolling steel doors, or commercial door systems
  • Loading docks, dock levelers, dock seals, or related equipment
  • Commercial gates, automated entry systems, or access control
  • Elevators, escalators, or vertical transportation systems
  • Commercial HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical service
  • Industrial equipment installation, maintenance, or repair
  • Other comparable commercial field-service or specialty installation environments
  • Experience managing field technicians, installation crews, subcontractors, or distributed project teams.
  • Strong understanding of project estimating, scheduling, budgeting, labor planning, and cost control.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, construction plans, equipment specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Experience coordinating multiple commercial projects simultaneously.
  • Strong customer relationship management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with field operations teams and traveling as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial service contracts, planned maintenance, equipment replacement, or modernization projects.
  • Background in both project management and estimating.
  • Familiarity with service management platforms, ERP systems, Procore, or similar project management software.
  • Experience supporting multiple branches or geographically dispersed field technicians.
  • OSHA 30, PMP, or other relevant certifications.

What Makes Someone Successful Here?

  • You understand the challenges of managing commercial field-service and installation projects. You know how to coordinate technicians, handle unexpected field conditions, keep customers informed, and ensure projects remain profitable.
  • You're equally comfortable reviewing an estimate, working through a scheduling conflict, communicating with a customer, or collaborating with a technician to resolve an installation issue.

If you have experience managing commercial equipment projects and enjoy taking ownership from start to finish, we'd love to connect!
