This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Social Media Intelligence Analyst based in the United States.
The Social Media Intelligence Analyst will play an important role in supporting legal investigations by identifying, analyzing, and verifying digital information relevant to litigation and insurance claims. This position focuses on using social media platforms, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and advanced online research techniques to uncover information that can help confirm or challenge claims made in legal proceedings. The successful candidate will investigate digital footprints, identify relevant social media accounts, and assess publicly available content with accuracy and attention to detail. Working within a professional investigations team, this individual will contribute valuable insights that support attorneys, corporations, insurance providers, and other legal clients. The role offers an opportunity to combine digital research, analytical thinking, and legal investigation expertise in a remote working environment. It may also provide a pathway toward obtaining a Private Investigator license for professionals interested in developing their investigative careers.
Accountabilities:
- Social media investigations: Identify, locate, and verify social media accounts belonging to individuals involved in legal cases, litigation, or insurance claims.
- Digital content analysis: Review and examine social media posts, photographs, videos, comments, and other publicly available online content to identify information relevant to investigations.
- Open-source intelligence (OSINT): Conduct comprehensive online research using open-source intelligence techniques, advanced search methods, and deep internet searches to uncover relevant digital information.
- Information verification: Assess the accuracy, credibility, and relevance of discovered information to help confirm or challenge statements and claims made in legal or insurance matters.
- Investigative analysis: Quickly interpret large amounts of digital information, identify relevant findings, and draw clear, evidence-based conclusions.
- Case support: Provide investigative insights that assist legal professionals, insurance carriers, corporations, and other clients in evaluating claims and preparing their cases.
- Research documentation: Organize and communicate findings clearly, ensuring that relevant information is accessible and useful to the investigative team.
- Continuous learning: Stay informed about social media platforms, online research tools, and emerging digital investigation techniques to improve investigative effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Criminal Justice, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- Professional experience: At least two years of relevant experience is preferred, particularly in investigations, paralegal work, legal research, law enforcement, investigative journalism, or a similar field.
- Alternative qualifications: Candidates without a bachelor's degree may be considered with an associate's degree, at least three years of relevant professional experience, and a current Private Investigator license and/or certifications in Social Media Intelligence or Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT).
- Social media expertise: Strong familiarity with multiple social media platforms and regular personal or professional experience using digital communication channels.
- Technical proficiency: Strong computer skills and the ability to navigate online platforms, conduct advanced internet searches, and use digital research tools effectively.
- Investigative skills: Ability to locate, verify, and analyze digital information, identify relevant details, and distinguish credible findings from potentially misleading content.
- Analytical abilities: Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to process information quickly while maintaining accuracy and objectivity.
- Communication skills: Ability to present investigative findings clearly and professionally, with strong written communication and information organization skills.
- Independent working style: Comfortable managing research assignments independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and other team members.
- Professional qualities: Discretion, reliability, sound judgment, curiosity, adaptability, and a strong commitment to accuracy and professional integrity.
- Career development: Interest in pursuing a Private Investigator license is an advantage, although candidates who already hold one are also welcome.
Benefits:
- Hourly compensation: $22–$27 per hour, depending on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and other business considerations.
- Fully remote working arrangement within the United States.
- Full-time employment opportunity.
- Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media investigations, digital intelligence, and legal research.
- Potential pathway toward obtaining a Private Investigator license, subject to applicable licensing requirements.
- Opportunity to develop specialized OSINT and investigative research skills.
