This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Palantir Foundry) based in the United States.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and deliver secure, mission-critical software solutions supporting high-impact government and defense initiatives. You will leverage your expertise in Palantir Foundry and modern software engineering practices to transform complex business and operational challenges into scalable technical solutions. Working within multidisciplinary product teams, you will collaborate directly with clients, developers, engineers, and military personnel to accelerate software delivery and improve mission outcomes. You will champion agile methodologies, continuous delivery, test-driven development, and AI-assisted engineering to build reliable, user-focused applications. Beyond hands-on development, you will mentor engineers, facilitate technical discussions, and promote engineering excellence. This fully remote opportunity offers significant autonomy, meaningful technical challenges, and the chance to contribute to projects where software innovation has a tangible real-world impact.
Accountabilities
• Design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable software solutions using Palantir Foundry, including Warp Core, to address complex client and mission requirements.
• Collaborate directly with government clients who may be adopting modern software engineering practices, helping them understand and implement design thinking, AI-assisted development, agile methodologies, continuous delivery, and effective backlog management.
• Translate complex business and operational challenges into clear technical specifications, actionable development tasks, and instructions suitable for AI-assisted and agentic software development.
• Adapt communication and collaboration approaches to each client's needs, ensuring technical concepts, feedback, and recommendations are delivered effectively.
• Work alongside client developers, engineers, and military personnel through pairing and hands-on enablement to accelerate the development and delivery of valuable user stories.
• Promote iterative software delivery by ensuring meaningful functionality is released regularly and incorporating feedback from real users throughout the development process.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure solutions align with user needs, business objectives, technical feasibility, and strategic priorities.
• Build measurement capabilities directly into software systems, establishing delivery metrics and user-focused performance indicators to evaluate outcomes and support continuous improvement.
• Apply AI-powered development tools and agentic engineering practices to improve productivity, software quality, and development workflows while maintaining appropriate engineering standards.
• Champion test-driven development (TDD), agile practices, automated testing, and continuous integration and delivery to ensure reliable and maintainable software.
• Lead engineering discussions, facilitate technical decision-making, and establish best practices within the product team.
• Monitor and manage technical debt, identify architectural improvements, and maintain the long-term quality and sustainability of software solutions.
• Mentor and support less experienced engineers, sharing technical knowledge and helping strengthen the team's overall engineering capabilities.
• Contribute to a culture of ownership, transparency, continuous learning, collaboration, and high-quality software delivery.
Requirements:
• Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of the federal government projects supported. Candidates must also be willing to undergo a background investigation.
• Between 6 and 10 years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated expertise across multiple programming languages.
• Working proficiency to advanced experience with Palantir Foundry, particularly Warp Core.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, programming language theory, software architecture, networking, databases, and design patterns.
• Proven experience developing both frontend and backend applications, with the ability to deliver end-to-end software solutions.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing APIs and integrating software components and services.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comfortable developing, deploying, and troubleshooting applications in Linux environments.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps tools, workflows, and security practices, including Git, Ansible, GitLab CI, SonarQube, Fortify, and ThreadFix.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development tools and an understanding of how AI can enhance engineering productivity and delivery.
• Strong knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and agile methodologies, including the use of AI tools to create, maintain, and improve automated tests.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively in pair-programming environments.
• A collaborative and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work independently, take ownership of technical decisions, and remain effective in uncertain or evolving environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience training, mentoring, or upskilling software engineers and technical teams.
• Background in developing and deploying cloud-native applications.
• Previous experience leading a software product team or development team.
