Original job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager – Billing Core based in the United States.
As a Senior Product Manager, you will own the product vision and strategy for a critical billing and revenue management platform serving telecommunications and communications service providers. You will lead the evolution of sophisticated billing, rating, charging, invoicing, and financial reporting capabilities. Working closely with engineering, design, and cross-functional business teams, you will transform complex financial and operational requirements into intuitive, scalable product solutions. You will play a key role in simplifying revenue operations, automating manual processes, and improving financial accuracy for customers. This position combines strategic product leadership with hands-on discovery, prioritization, and execution. It is an exciting opportunity to shape a core SaaS product within a collaborative, fully remote, and technology-driven environment.
Accountabilities:
- Product strategy and vision: Define and drive the product strategy for the Billing module in collaboration with engineering, design, stakeholders, and senior leadership, ensuring alignment with customer needs and broader business objectives.
- Roadmap ownership: Develop, maintain, and communicate a comprehensive product roadmap that supports platform growth, customer priorities, and long-term business goals.
- Backlog management: Own and continuously prioritize the product backlog, ensuring the development team focuses on the highest-impact opportunities based on customer feedback, operational data, and strategic priorities.
- Customer and market research: Conduct customer interviews, competitive research, and data analysis to develop a deep understanding of telecommunications billing models, revenue management challenges, and emerging industry requirements.
- Billing and revenue management: Lead the development of billing capabilities covering rating, charging, invoicing, billing cycles, payment workflows, prorations, credits, adjustments, and related financial operations.
- Financial and regulatory solutions: Translate accounting, tax compliance, regulatory, reconciliation, and financial reporting requirements into robust product features that support controllers, accountants, auditors, and finance teams.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Customer Success, Sales, and Implementation teams to identify customer pain points and transform operational challenges into meaningful product improvements.
- Technical collaboration: Work closely with developers, product designers, and QA specialists to define requirements, evaluate technical implications, and communicate architectural trade-offs clearly.
- Process optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce manual workflows, minimize billing errors, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate customer time-to-value.
- Product performance: Use qualitative and quantitative insights to evaluate product outcomes, validate assumptions, and continuously improve the billing experience.
- AI-powered productivity: Leverage AI tools and automation to accelerate product discovery, research, analysis, prototyping, and problem-solving while continuously improving personal and team productivity.
Requirements:
- Product management experience: At least 5 years of experience in product management, with a demonstrated ability to define product strategy, manage roadmaps, prioritize backlogs, and deliver successful software products.
- SaaS expertise: Experience working with medium-to-large-scale web applications, particularly B2B SaaS platforms or complex digital products.
- Industry experience: Previous experience in billing, payments, accounting, FinTech, revenue management, or financial operations is strongly valued.
- Accounting and finance background: Hands-on experience in accounting, controllership, revenue accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), public accounting, or a related financial discipline, acquired before or alongside a product management career.
- Accounting fundamentals: Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, accounts receivable, revenue recognition (ASC 606 / IFRS 15), and month-end closing processes.
- Financial reporting: Experience defining, reviewing, or validating financial and regulatory reports, including accounts receivable aging, revenue, tax, and reconciliation reports.
- Data analysis: Ability to work directly with financial and operational data, using SQL or similar tools to investigate discrepancies, validate calculations, and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Billing domain expertise: Strong ability to understand and reason through complex business logic, including rating, charging, invoicing, prorations, credits, adjustments, and payment workflows.
- Technical understanding: Ability to understand software architecture, communicate technical challenges, and evaluate the implications of product and engineering decisions.
- Human-centered design: Strong understanding of user-centered product design principles and the ability to balance technical complexity with intuitive, effective user experiences.
- AI proficiency: Demonstrated experience integrating AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, or similar solutions into daily workflows for research, analysis, product scoping, prototyping, and problem-solving.
- AI workflow development: Ability to create and continuously improve personalized AI-powered workflows that increase productivity and accelerate product development activities.
- Leadership and collaboration: Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to align engineering, design, sales, customer success, and other stakeholders around shared objectives.
- Analytical mindset: Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, particularly when working with complex financial processes, business rules, and operational challenges.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in flexible Agile environments, managing evolving priorities, and taking ownership of decisions and outcomes.
- Language skills: Professional proficiency in English is required. French language skills are considered an advantage.
Nice-to-have qualifications:
- CPA designation or equivalent professional certification, such as CA, CMA, CGA, or ACCA.
- Strong understanding of billing systems, payment gateways, and tax engines.
- Interest in telecommunications-specific billing models, industry developments, and emerging revenue management solutions.
Benefits:
- Competitive annual salary: $140,000–$220,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and role alignment.
- Stock options plan, offering an opportunity to participate in the company's growth.
- 25 days of flexible vacation annually.
- Group health insurance coverage.
- Telemedicine services.
- Life Spending Account.
- Retirement savings plans, including RRSP and DPSP.
- Flexible working hours to support work-life balance.
