Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Actuary based in the United States.

The Senior Forward Deployed Actuary will help organizations turn artificial intelligence opportunities into practical, business-driven transformation initiatives across the insurance industry. This role combines insurance and actuarial domain knowledge, business consulting expertise, and applied AI fluency to bridge the gap between complex business workflows and technology implementation. You will work closely with internal consulting teams, client stakeholders, subject matter experts, AI engineers, and architects to identify opportunities and design AI-enabled solutions. From workflow diagnostics and use case prioritization to solution prototyping and implementation planning, your work will help translate AI ambitions into measurable business value. This is an opportunity to help build and scale an evolving AI consulting capability while shaping how enterprise AI is adopted responsibly across insurance operations.

Accountabilities:

• Support internal consulting and product teams in responding to client demand for AI transformation services, including opportunity development, diagnostic workshops, proposal preparation, and use case definition.

• Translate client business priorities, operating models, and workflow challenges into actionable AI transformation roadmaps, prioritized use case portfolios, and implementation plans.

• Help clients move beyond isolated AI pilots by connecting proposed solutions to measurable business outcomes, adoption requirements, and scalable delivery approaches.

• Map existing insurance workflows, decision processes, handoffs, controls, data flows, expert reasoning, and operational pain points across actuarial, underwriting, claims, reporting, compliance, and related functions.

• Redesign workflows around AI-enabled delivery while balancing automation, expert judgment, human oversight, governance, auditability, and change management.

• Capture and structure subject matter expertise into AI-ready materials, including process documentation, reasoning workflows, knowledge bases, prompt patterns, evaluation criteria, and requirements for agentic systems.

• Co-design practical AI-enabled solutions with business experts, AI engineers, and product owners, ensuring alignment with real operational needs and implementation constraints.

• Advise internal teams and clients on enterprise AI tools, including generative AI platforms, knowledge assistants, agentic workflow solutions, document intelligence, and automation capabilities.

• Define solution requirements, success measures, validation approaches, adoption considerations, and handoff documentation to support progression from concept to prototype, minimum viable product (MVP), and scalable implementation.

• Collaborate with technology teams on solution evaluation, architecture considerations, security requirements, deployment options, and production-readiness needs.

• Contribute to the development of reusable engagement methods, tools, and assets that strengthen and scale the AI business engagement and engineering capability.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Business, Finance, Insurance, or another relevant quantitative or business discipline.

• Approximately 6–8 years of relevant professional experience in insurance, actuarial consulting, business transformation, operations, data management, technology-enabled consulting, or related fields.

• Strong understanding of insurance workflows, with the ability to engage credibly with experts across actuarial, underwriting, claims, reporting, compliance, risk, or adjacent business functions.

• Demonstrated experience mapping business processes, structuring expert knowledge, identifying improvement opportunities, and translating complex or ambiguous business challenges into practical solution requirements.

• Experience supporting business development, proposal writing, client workshops, solution scoping, or transformation roadmap development.

• Working knowledge of generative AI and agentic systems, including large language models (LLMs), prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), knowledge assistants, agentic workflows, and evaluation approaches.

• Familiarity with human-in-the-loop design, responsible AI principles, and governance considerations.

• Practical understanding of enterprise AI tools used for conversational AI, coding, workflow automation, document intelligence, data analysis, and prototyping.

• Ability to collaborate with AI engineers, architects, technology teams, domain experts, and business stakeholders on requirements, prototypes, evaluation, architecture, security, and deployment considerations.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to bridge technical and business audiences and engage with senior leaders.

• Strong structured problem-solving, commercial awareness, and analytical capabilities.

• Entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability, and willingness to help establish and grow a new AI-focused business capability.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future immigration sponsorship.

Benefits:

• Salary: Overall annual compensation range of $168,402–$319,408, depending on qualifications, experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.

•

Location-based salary ranges:

• $193,662–$319,408 for candidates residing in Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C.

• $168,402–$277,746 for candidates residing in all other locations.

• Work flexibility: Fully remote position within the United States.

• Professional impact: Opportunity to help shape and scale an emerging AI transformation capability.

• Cross-functional exposure: Collaboration with insurance specialists, business leaders, AI engineers, architects, and client teams.

• Career development: Opportunity to contribute to innovative AI solutions and build expertise at the intersection of insurance, consulting, and enterprise technology.

• Specific healthcare coverage, retirement benefits, and paid leave details are not provided in the job posting.
