Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior AI Engineer (AI Automation) based in United States.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy intelligent automation solutions that transform how Product, Product Marketing, and Design teams operate. In this role, you will build AI-powered agents, applications, and automated workflows that eliminate repetitive tasks and accelerate decision-making across the product lifecycle. Working directly with non-technical stakeholders and engineering teams, you will turn complex business needs into practical, production-ready AI solutions. You will leverage cutting-edge models, retrieval systems, evaluation frameworks, and modern development tools to deliver meaningful productivity gains. As a senior individual contributor, you will have significant autonomy to define priorities, own projects end to end, and establish reusable technical components. This is an opportunity to shape AI adoption across a globally distributed organization where innovation, speed, engineering excellence, and measurable impact are highly valued.

Accountabilities

Design, build, and deploy AI-powered agents, applications, and automation workflows that help Product, Product Marketing, and Design teams improve productivity and focus on higher-value activities.
Identify repetitive manual processes and transform them into intelligent automations, enabling teams to operate more efficiently and scale their output without increasing operational overhead.
Work directly with embedded product and business teams to understand their challenges, identify underlying needs, and translate informal requests into effective technical solutions.
Develop agentic solutions using advanced AI models and technologies, including Model Context Protocol (MCP), retrieval systems, evaluation frameworks, and observability tools.
Build applications that provide teams with direct access to customer insights, business intelligence, and relevant data to support better-informed product and marketing decisions.
Develop and maintain reusable AI components, shared agents, internal applications, and automation frameworks that accelerate future development and reduce duplicated engineering effort.
Take ownership of the complete development lifecycle, from identifying opportunities and defining requirements to prototyping, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Rapidly transform early-stage ideas into functional prototypes, enabling stakeholders to test and evaluate working solutions within hours rather than relying on lengthy specifications.
Deliver production improvements and fixes to shared AI agents and applications quickly, responding to user feedback and maintaining high standards of reliability and usability.
Collaborate with Engineering teams to follow established technical standards, participate in code reviews, and leverage shared infrastructure to ensure production quality and long-term maintainability.
Build strong relationships with non-technical users, ensuring that the AI solutions developed are intuitive, practical, reliable, and consistently adopted in everyday workflows.
Evaluate where AI automation can generate meaningful value and exercise sound technical judgment when traditional software solutions or human intervention are more appropriate.
Use AI-assisted development tools daily to accelerate coding, experimentation, debugging, and solution delivery.
Establish priorities independently, manage ambiguous technical challenges, and drive initiatives forward with minimal supervision.
Contribute to a culture of rapid experimentation, continuous feedback, documentation, and engineering excellence across a globally distributed team.

Requirements

Strong software engineering experience with Python or TypeScript, including the ability to develop, maintain, and deploy production-quality code rather than relying exclusively on low-code automation platforms.
Advanced practical expertise in artificial intelligence and modern AI development, with daily experience building agentic applications using current frontier models.
Hands-on experience with key AI engineering technologies and concepts, including Model Context Protocol (MCP), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model evaluation (evals), and observability.
Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI agents, intelligent applications, and automated workflows that solve real business problems.
A portfolio or concrete examples of AI-powered solutions you have personally built, demonstrating technical depth, practical application, and measurable impact.
Proven experience translating requirements from non-technical stakeholders into effective technical solutions, including the ability to identify the underlying problem rather than simply implementing the initial request.
Strong judgment in evaluating when AI is the right solution, understanding its limitations, and determining when alternative approaches are more effective.
Demonstrated experience building AI tools or internal applications that have been successfully adopted and consistently used by non-technical teams.
Daily experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent technologies to improve development speed and productivity.
Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including code quality, maintainability, testing, documentation, and production deployment.
Ability to build reusable components and scalable automation frameworks that can be maintained, extended, and adopted across multiple teams.
Experience collaborating with engineering teams on technical standards, code reviews, shared infrastructure, and production reliability.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and make sound technical decisions independently.
Proven ability to manage complex initiatives from initial concept through production deployment, requiring minimal direction and demonstrating strong ownership of outcomes.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working closely with Product, Product Marketing, Design, and Engineering stakeholders.
Adaptability, curiosity, and a continuous learning mindset, with the ability to stay current with rapidly evolving AI technologies and development practices.

Additional expectations and working environment:

Ability to work effectively within a globally distributed, fully remote, asynchronous-first organization.
Availability for approximately six hours of daily working-hour overlap with the team's core schedule, generally within the 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time window.
Comfortable communicating through Slack, written documentation, and regular cross-functional collaboration.
Willingness to operate in a high-ownership environment where priorities can evolve quickly and independent decision-making is essential.

Benefits

Fully remote working arrangement, offering flexibility to work from an eligible location in United States.
Globally distributed and asynchronous-first working environment.
Significant autonomy and ownership over technical projects, priorities, and implementation decisions.
Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technologies, frontier models, and advanced agentic systems.
Direct collaboration with Product, Product Marketing, Design, and Engineering teams.
Opportunity to develop AI solutions that have measurable organization-wide impact.
High-speed development environment that encourages rapid prototyping, experimentation, and same-day production improvements.
Opportunity to build reusable AI infrastructure and establish best practices for intelligent automation.
No required business travel or onsite attendance.
No on-call responsibilities.
Collaborative engineering culture with access to shared infrastructure, technical standards, and peer code reviews.
Opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence, financial intelligence, national security, and crime prevention.
Professional growth within a rapidly evolving technology environment that values technical excellence, ownership, continuous learning, and innovation.
