Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Engineer, Agentic AI based in the United States .

As a Principal Engineer, Agentic AI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of an innovative SaaS platform serving the automotive repair industry. You will drive technical strategy, lead architectural decisions, and build scalable, AI-powered systems that transform how software products operate. Working within a lean, high-performing engineering team, you will help establish an agentic-first development culture, integrating autonomous AI workflows into both products and engineering processes. You will take ownership of critical platform components, from data processing and infrastructure to full-stack architecture and production deployments. Collaborating closely with Product and Engineering leadership, you will translate complex technical challenges into impactful solutions. This is an opportunity to influence product direction, experiment with emerging technologies, and make a lasting impact in a high-growth environment.

Accountabilities

• Define and lead the technical strategy for core platform components, particularly data ingestion and processing systems that power advanced CRM functionalities and automation tools.

• Drive architectural decisions and design reusable, scalable full-stack components and services to support platform performance, reliability, and long-term growth.

• Lead the development and integration of agentic AI capabilities, designing autonomous workflows that enhance product functionality and transform engineering processes.

• Build, deploy, and optimize production-grade AI-powered features using Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and intelligent orchestration techniques.

• Continuously adapt technical priorities to evolving business requirements, balancing core infrastructure improvements with new integrations and product development initiatives.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to understand customer needs, identify technical opportunities, and translate user challenges into effective product solutions.

• Champion engineering excellence by establishing best practices in code quality, security, testing automation, and maintainability.

• Conduct in-depth code reviews, mentor engineering colleagues, and promote high technical standards across the organization.

• Influence and improve DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Design and maintain AI-integrated, agentic-ready infrastructure that supports autonomous workflows and enables more efficient software delivery.

• Explore and implement AI-driven engineering tools, including automated code review agents, AI-assisted testing, and workflow orchestration solutions.

• Take full ownership of technical initiatives from initial concept and architecture through implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional experience designing and developing complex, web-based SaaS products.

• Strong ownership mindset, with a demonstrated ability to independently lead major technical initiatives, take accountability for outcomes, and consistently deliver high-quality results in fast-paced environments.

• Hands-on experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompt engineering and AI-assisted development techniques.

• Proven experience building, deploying, and maintaining AI-powered features and autonomous agentic workflows in production environments.

• Practical experience integrating AI tools into CI/CD pipelines, such as automated code review agents, AI-assisted testing systems, and agentic workflow orchestration.

• Strong database expertise, including relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, as well as NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB and Redis.

• Experience with database schema design, query optimization, and building reliable data-processing systems.

• Strong understanding of scalable software architecture, modern development practices, infrastructure, and distributed systems.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in business and product terms and influence technical decisions with senior stakeholders.

• A proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge existing approaches, and identify opportunities for innovation.

• Nice to have: Experience with .NET, Node.js (TypeScript), and React.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Nice to have: Previous experience as a founding engineer or within an early-stage, high-growth startup.

• Nice to have: Experience building or integrating Claude marketplace plugins and working within the Anthropic ecosystem, including prompt chaining, tool use, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations.

Benefits:

• Equity options: Opportunity to participate in the company's growth and share in its long-term success.

• Fully remote work: Work from anywhere in the United States.

• Healthcare coverage: 100% employer-paid medical insurance.

• Flexible paid time off: Flexible PTO policy with a 15-day minimum.

• Financial benefits: Access to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and 401(k) options.

• Learning and development: Dedicated learning stipend to support continuous professional growth and technical development.

• Remote work support: Home office equipment provided to help create a productive working environment.

• Innovative engineering culture: Opportunities to influence emerging AI technologies and contribute to an agentic-first engineering environment.

• Career growth and ownership: Significant autonomy, technical leadership opportunities, and the ability to shape major products from concept to launch.

• Collaborative environment: Work alongside talented professionals in a flexible, forward-thinking, and growth-oriented team.
