Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Network & Infrastructure Engineering professional based in the United States.

The Network & Infrastructure Engineering professional will provide technical leadership and engineering oversight for enterprise network and infrastructure capabilities supporting a large-scale federal healthcare IT modernization program. This role plays a key part in translating approved technical architectures into practical implementation requirements, ensuring infrastructure solutions are reliable, secure, and operationally ready. Working closely with network architects, cybersecurity specialists, application teams, and external vendors, the successful candidate will oversee design reviews, system integration, testing, and deployment readiness. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, mission-critical technology initiatives within a collaborative, multi-vendor environment. The ideal candidate combines extensive enterprise networking expertise with strong engineering judgment and the ability to manage technical dependencies. This is a fully remote opportunity requiring the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Accountabilities

• Provide technical engineering leadership and oversight for network and infrastructure activities supporting enterprise healthcare IT modernization initiatives.

• Translate approved architectures, technical requirements, and engineering standards into actionable implementation plans and requirements.

• Review network and infrastructure designs to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with enterprise standards.

• Support engineering activities across LAN/WAN connectivity, routing, switching, VLANs, network segmentation, firewalls, DNS, remote access, cloud connectivity, and hybrid infrastructure.

• Identify infrastructure dependencies and potential impacts on applications, devices, interfaces, cybersecurity, testing, and deployment activities.

• Establish, maintain, and validate infrastructure technical baselines and authoritative engineering documentation.

• Review network diagrams, hardware and software configurations, ports and protocols, firewall requirements, connectivity matrices, and interface dependencies.

• Support infrastructure configuration management, change control, and technical documentation processes.

• Contribute to Interconnection Security Agreements (ISAs), Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) documentation, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).

• Coordinate technical activities and engineering inputs across network, cybersecurity, application, interface, and vendor teams.

• Review infrastructure test plans, validation procedures, and supporting technical evidence to ensure implementation readiness.

• Support connectivity, routing, VLAN, firewall, application integration, and infrastructure performance testing.

• Identify technical deficiencies, coordinate corrective actions, oversee retesting, and ensure issues are resolved.

• Participate in site and deployment readiness assessments, including network cutover planning, implementation validation, and rollback preparation.

• Identify infrastructure risks, technical issues, and cross-functional dependencies, providing clear recommendations to engineering leadership.

• Ensure infrastructure solutions align with approved technical architectures, cybersecurity requirements, and operational objectives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in IT infrastructure engineering, network engineering, infrastructure architecture, or a comparable technical role.

• Demonstrated experience coordinating or leading enterprise infrastructure initiatives involving network, hardware, and software components.

• Proven experience integrating infrastructure solutions within complex enterprise IT environments.

• Strong background in reviewing technical designs, implementation plans, vendor deliverables, and engineering documentation.

• Experience supporting infrastructure testing, configuration management, change control, and technical readiness activities.

• Familiarity with ServiceNow or comparable enterprise IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.

• Broad knowledge of enterprise networking and infrastructure technologies, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, DNS, network segmentation, and enterprise connectivity.

• Working knowledge of hybrid infrastructure environments and enterprise cloud platforms.

• Ability to analyze ports, protocols, services, firewall dependencies, and connectivity requirements.

• Familiarity with NIST cybersecurity frameworks, security controls, and guidance applicable to federal information systems.

• Strong troubleshooting, technical analysis, and root-cause investigation capabilities.

• Experience developing, maintaining, and reviewing technical baselines, engineering documentation, and infrastructure configurations.

• Ability to evaluate technical deliverables, testing procedures, and validation evidence.

• Strong understanding of infrastructure configuration management and change control principles.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in complex, multi-vendor environments.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience supporting federal government programs, healthcare IT initiatives, or electronic health record (EHR) modernization projects.

• Experience with enterprise EHR implementations, particularly Oracle Health/Cerner environments.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other enterprise cloud platforms.

• Experience supporting federal ISA and PPSM processes.

• Experience developing or reviewing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and infrastructure interface documentation.

• Familiarity with Splunk or comparable infrastructure monitoring and analytics platforms.

• Relevant Cisco, Microsoft, cloud infrastructure, networking, or cybersecurity certifications.

Benefits:

• Competitive salary: Annual compensation ranging from $110,000 to $136,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

• Remote flexibility: Fully remote working arrangement within the United States.

• Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

• Retirement planning: 401(k) retirement savings plan.

• Paid time off: Paid leave to support personal time and work-life balance.

• Family support: Paid parental leave.

• Financial protection: Life and disability insurance coverage.

• Flexible spending accounts: Options to help manage eligible healthcare and dependent care expenses.

• Commuter benefits: Additional support for eligible commuting expenses.

• Professional development: Tuition reimbursement opportunities.

• Meaningful work: Opportunity to contribute to large-scale federal healthcare IT modernization and mission-critical infrastructure initiatives.

• Inclusive workplace: Commitment to equal employment opportunities and a diverse, supportive professional environment.
