Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IT Applications Senior Developer based in the United States.

Take a leading role in designing, developing, and supporting business-critical applications that power customer orders, installations, and monitoring operations. You will build and maintain modern .NET applications, APIs, and integrations while helping shape the technical architecture behind essential business systems. AI-assisted development is central to the engineering workflow, giving you the opportunity to direct coding agents, accelerate delivery, and establish effective development practices. You will apply strong engineering judgment to validate AI-generated plans, code, and tests while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and performance. Working closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and fellow developers, you will influence technical direction and drive continuous improvement. This fully remote opportunity is suited to an experienced developer who enjoys combining hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and mentoring. Accountabilities

You will lead application development throughout the software lifecycle, combining hands-on technical expertise with AI-assisted engineering practices and architectural guidance. Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the application development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, code reviews, and ongoing support.

• Design, build, and maintain .NET web applications, REST APIs, and integrations in line with established engineering standards.

• Develop solutions using cloud-based and service-oriented architectures, connecting business-critical systems such as CRM, ERP, inventory, and monitoring platforms.

• Investigate and resolve production issues using application logs, telemetry, databases, and AI-assisted analysis.

• Document technical fixes, maintain operational runbooks, improve application performance, address technical debt, and support continuous integration.

• Translate Jira stories into clear, testable acceptance criteria covering expected behavior, edge cases, and failure scenarios.

• Direct AI coding agents, including Claude Code, to prepare technical plans, generate code and tests, and open pull requests for review.

• Critically assess AI-generated technical plans, code, and tests for accuracy, security, scope, quality, and potential regressions.

• Maintain traceability between requirements, technical plans, testing, and deployment, including documentation for change approval requests.

• Evaluate test results in system integration and staging environments and determine whether changes are ready for production.

• Improve shared AI agent prompts, skills, and rules while coaching developers on effective AI use and appropriate human oversight.

• Help establish technical and architectural direction for applications and systems.

• Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to identify solutions and deliver business value.

• Lead peer reviews and quality assurance activities, participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, and recommend process improvements.

• Mentor developers and share technical knowledge across engineering, support, and cross-functional teams.

• Research emerging tools and frameworks and assess their potential impact on business processes, application health, and performance.

Requirements

The ideal candidate combines extensive application development experience with strong technical judgment, practical AI-assisted engineering expertise, and the ability to guide development teams. You should bring:

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least 8 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining production web or business applications, including at least 3 years working with C#/.NET.

• At least 8 years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Daily, hands-on experience using AI coding agents or assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor for real development work.

• Strong expertise in C#, .NET Core/ASP.NET MVC, and Entity Framework.

• Solid SQL Server experience, including query analysis and working with large production databases.

• Experience designing, maintaining, and consuming REST APIs; familiarity with GraphQL and third-party or legacy integrations is an advantage.

• Full-stack development experience with Angular, React, Vue, or similar frameworks, as well as HTML5, CSS3, and JSON.

• Experience with Azure, cloud application architecture, service-oriented systems, Git-based CI/CD, and DevOps practices.

• Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot complex software and system solutions.

• Strong judgment in identifying security, quality, and reliability issues in AI-generated code.

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, technical documentation, code reviews, and established quality assurance practices.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with product owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience developing AI-agent skills, MCP servers, custom tool integrations, or AI-assisted software development workflows.

• Knowledge of AI-related risks, including prompt injection, secret handling, data protection, and licensing of generated code.

• Familiarity with Azure App Services, Key Vault, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Entra ID, Sentry, or ConfigCat.

• Experience with API management tools such as Sentinet and CI/CD platforms such as CircleCI or Octopus Deploy.

• Python experience and knowledge of Linux; familiarity with Ruby, Nuxt.js, Heroku, or Selenium.

• Experience with ERP/CRM platforms such as Business Central or SalesLogix, home security systems, or alarm-monitoring workflows.

• Experience mentoring developers through changes in tools, technologies, or development processes.

Technology environment:

The development environment includes C#/.NET, Python, REST APIs, modern web frameworks, SQL Server, and business application databases. Cloud and infrastructure technologies include Azure services such as Key Vault, Application Insights, and Log Analytics, as well as Entra ID, ConfigCat, service-oriented integrations, and Sentinet API management. The team also uses GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and AI development tools such as Claude Code and Cowork, supported by shared agent skills and MCP connections to systems including logs, SQL, and Jira.

AI-assisted development expectations:

AI-assisted engineering is a core part of this position. Each change request must include an AI-written technical plan, and AI agents are expected to generate pull requests for human review. Acceptance criteria guide expected behavior and test creation. Human reviewers remain accountable for validating technical plans, code, tests, and production releases, while continuously improving automated verification and quality controls.

What success looks like:

• Within 30 days: Deliver a change through the complete AI-assisted development workflow.

• Within 60 days: Take ownership of a feature area, producing technical plans and pull requests that require minimal rework.

• Within 90 days: Contribute an improvement to a shared AI agent skill or development rule.

• Ongoing: Improve delivery throughput, reduce defects reaching production, strengthen evidence-based quality controls, and actively mentor junior developers.

Benefits

• Fully remote position open to candidates located in the continental United States.

• Candidates based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area are preferred.

• Travel approximately twice per year to the headquarters in Farmers Branch, Texas.

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
