Original job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployment Engineer based in the United States.
Join a customer-facing engineering team focused on transforming complex data challenges into scalable, production-ready solutions. In this role, you will combine solution architecture, technical consulting, and hands-on engineering to help enterprise customers build real-time data applications. You will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to understand their objectives, design effective architectures, and bring innovative solutions into production. Acting as a trusted technical advisor, you will guide strategic discussions while taking ownership of execution and delivery. You will collaborate with Sales, Product, Solutions Engineering, and Engineering teams to align customer needs with technical capabilities. This opportunity is particularly suited to experienced technical professionals who thrive in customer partnerships, enjoy solving complex problems, and balance innovation with practical implementation. Candidates based in the New York City area or within commuting distance are preferred.
Accountabilities:
As a Forward Deployment Engineer, you will lead customer engagements from initial discovery through implementation, ensuring technical solutions deliver measurable business value.
• Partner with customers to understand their existing architectures, business objectives, technical requirements, and use cases, translating them into scalable solutions.
• Design and implement end-to-end solutions that integrate a distributed SQL database into existing application, data, and infrastructure ecosystems.
• Lead technical workshops and whiteboard sessions to explore ideas, define system architectures, and translate concepts into actionable technical specifications and delivery plans.
• Act as a proactive technical thought partner, identifying opportunities, proposing solutions, and guiding customers beyond their initial requirements.
• Take ownership of high-impact initiatives from concept through production, driving implementation and ensuring successful delivery.
• Provide hands-on technical support, including troubleshooting, performance optimization, and pragmatic fixes to address implementation challenges.
• Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, and Engineering teams to connect customer requirements with product capabilities and roadmap priorities.
• Help customers prioritize and operationalize data initiatives by balancing technical ambition, business impact, realistic scope, and execution constraints.
• Share feedback and insights from customer engagements with Product and Engineering teams to inform product improvements and future development.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate combines substantial technical experience with strong customer engagement skills, architectural expertise, and a proven ability to deliver complex solutions in production environments.
• 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, solution engineering, or technical consulting, across pre-sales and/or post-sales environments.
• Strong foundational knowledge of databases, distributed systems, or software engineering.
• Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade technical solutions in customer-facing environments.
• Experience integrating complex systems across data pipelines, applications, and infrastructure.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business and technical requirements into clear architectural plans and executable delivery strategies.
• Experience working with enterprise customers, preferably in financial services or high-tech industries.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to engage and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset, with the ability to balance technical innovation against implementation complexity, business priorities, and realistic timelines.
• Ability to align proposed solutions with existing product capabilities and roadmap priorities to ensure feasibility and impact.
• Willingness and ability to work directly with customers in a customer-facing engineering capacity.
• Candidates based in the New York City metropolitan area or within a commutable distance are preferred.
Benefits:
• Annual base salary ranging from $120,000 to $200,000 USD, depending on skills, experience, geographic location, and other permissible, non-discriminatory factors.
• Eligibility for additional compensation opportunities, including merit increases and annual bonuses, where applicable.
• Opportunity to work on complex, data-intensive applications and help enterprise customers implement real-time data solutions.
• Cross-functional collaboration with teams across Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, and Engineering.
• An opportunity to influence product improvements and roadmap priorities through direct customer feedback.
• A diverse and inclusive working environment that values individual skills, experiences, and collaboration across teams.
