Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field Service Technician based in the United States.

The Field Service Technician will play a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing advanced autonomous mobile robot (AMR) systems deployed at customer sites. This position combines hands-on hardware expertise with technical troubleshooting and customer support to ensure reliable system performance and minimize operational downtime. You will work closely with customers, partners, and internal engineering, production, and operations teams to resolve technical challenges and improve system reliability. The role involves performing on-site maintenance, conducting system audits, implementing hardware upgrades, and supporting product recalls. You will also deliver technical training and share valuable feedback to support continuous product improvement. Although the position is remote, frequent visits to a major customer site in Arlington, Texas, are required, making proximity to the area or willingness to relocate important.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide advanced on-site and remote troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair services for existing customer hardware deployments.
  • Travel regularly to customer facilities to diagnose technical issues, perform repairs, and restore systems to optimal operating conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive system audits to verify performance and reliability, including preventive hardware maintenance, network assessments, and user interaction reviews.
  • Deliver technical training on repair and maintenance procedures to customers, business partners, and end users.
  • Manage, execute, and track hardware recalls and retrofit activities at customer locations.
  • Serve as a Tier 3 hardware support resource, providing advanced technical assistance for complex issues.
  • Review customer workflows, software configurations, and database systems to identify potential issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and operations teams to streamline service delivery and resolve recurring technical challenges.
  • Provide clear and actionable feedback to internal teams regarding product performance, repair costs, technical complexity, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the continuous enhancement of products, services, and customer experience by sharing field insights and technical recommendations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant technical experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex hardware and integrated systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical hands-on skills, including electrical system debugging and repair.
  • Knowledge of computer networking, wireless technologies, and applicable industrial standards.
  • Experience with software integration, system debugging, and interconnected hardware and software environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux, particularly Ubuntu, and Robot Operating System (ROS) is an advantage.
  • Programming knowledge in C, C++, or Python is considered an asset.
  • Relevant technical certifications, such as CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network+, are preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
  • Excellent customer-facing and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, partners, and end users.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the United States and Canada for business purposes.
  • Must currently reside near Arlington, Texas, or be willing to relocate to support frequent on-site customer engagements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position, either currently or in the future.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional technical teams.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Paid time off.
  • Parental and caregiver leave.
  • Flexible work schedule, with the opportunity to coordinate working arrangements with your manager to support work-life balance.
  • Remote-based working arrangement with regular customer site visits.
  • Opportunities to develop technical expertise in robotics, automation, and advanced industrial technologies.
  • Exposure to innovative autonomous mobile robot systems and complex technical environments.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • Compensation and position level determined by relevant experience and qualifications.
