Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager, Salesforce based in the United States.

We are looking for an experienced Salesforce Engineering Manager to lead and develop a team of Salesforce engineers and administrators responsible for a business-critical technology platform. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee technical strategy, team performance, and the delivery of scalable solutions that support key business operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions. Balancing people leadership with direct technical contributions, you will help establish engineering best practices and improve development processes. You will also drive platform reliability, reduce technical debt, and ensure predictable delivery. This is an opportunity to shape a high-performing engineering team while making a meaningful impact on customer experiences and business performance.

Accountabilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Salesforce engineers and administrators through performance management, career development, mentoring, recruitment, and onboarding.

• Collaborate with platform operations and Salesforce architecture teams to prioritize initiatives, manage team capacity, and ensure predictable delivery.

• Maintain an active technical contribution, dedicating approximately 25% of a typical engineering cycle to hands-on development.

• Partner with business stakeholders across Customer Care, Operations, Finance, Product, and leadership to understand requirements and deliver scalable Salesforce solutions.

• Establish and promote engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, source-driven development, and technical documentation.

• Improve platform stability, performance, and maintainability while identifying and reducing technical debt.

• Act as an escalation point for technical incidents, facilitate blameless postmortems, and drive continuous improvement.

• Ensure that team priorities, workloads, deliverables, and progress are clearly documented, tracked, and communicated.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on development experience.

• 4+ years of experience managing Salesforce engineering teams, including developers and/or administrators.

• Deep technical expertise in Salesforce technologies, including Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flow, security and sharing models, governor limits, and Salesforce data architecture.

• Strong experience with Salesforce DevOps practices and tools, including Salesforce DX (SFDX), Git, source-driven development, CI/CD pipelines, sandbox management, and automated testing.

• Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into practical technical solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.

• Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on engineering responsibilities with people management and team development.

• Experience in hospitality, travel, timeshare, vacation ownership, or reservation-based industries is a plus.

• Familiarity with Salesforce Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, or Marketing Cloud is an advantage.

• Experience using Linear or similar project management tools is desirable.

• Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and experience introducing them into engineering workflows is a plus.

Benefits:

• Opportunity to lead a critical technology function and influence the development of a business-critical Salesforce platform.

• Remote work flexibility within the United States, with an additional location option in Portland, Oregon.

• A hands-on leadership position combining technical challenges with team development and strategic decision-making.

• The opportunity to build, mentor, and grow a high-performing Salesforce engineering team.

• Direct collaboration with cross-functional business leaders and the opportunity to influence key operational initiatives.

• A collaborative environment focused on engineering excellence, continuous improvement, platform reliability, and predictable delivery.

• Career growth through ownership of technical strategy, engineering practices, and team performance.
