Original job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Privacy & Protection Senior Consultant based in the United States.
As a Data Privacy & Protection Senior Consultant, you will lead client engagements and help organizations build, strengthen, and operationalize effective data privacy and protection programs. You will combine consulting expertise, project leadership, and hands-on technical skills to address complex regulatory requirements and evolving data protection challenges. Working directly with clients across different industries, you will oversee project delivery, manage stakeholder relationships, and translate privacy obligations into practical business processes and technology solutions. You will also play a key role in implementing and configuring privacy management platforms, ensuring that solutions are tailored to each client's needs. Beyond project execution, you will mentor junior consultants and contribute to the development of innovative consulting methodologies. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative, technology-driven consulting environment where your expertise will help organizations protect sensitive information and manage privacy risks effectively.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of client engagements when assigned as Engagement Leader, overseeing project activities, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact for assigned engagements, facilitating meetings, managing expectations, presenting findings, and recommending practical solutions.
- When supporting another Engagement Leader, take ownership of assigned workstreams, contribute subject-matter expertise, communicate progress, and proactively flag potential delivery risks.
- Provide project-level guidance to supporting Consultants, including delegating tasks, reviewing deliverables, sharing feedback, and supporting their professional development.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within agreed scope and budget, and in accordance with established quality standards.
- Monitor project milestones, resource utilization, dependencies, and potential scope changes, identifying challenges early and implementing appropriate solutions or escalating issues when necessary.
- Lead privacy assessments, data protection program development initiatives, risk evaluations, and regulatory compliance reviews.
- Translate regulatory requirements and business needs into practical privacy processes, operational controls, and technology-enabled solutions.
- Lead and support the configuration and implementation of privacy management platforms, including data mapping, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), consent management, and data subject rights workflows.
- Independently explore and configure privacy technology platforms, developing hands-on expertise in new tools, functionalities, and implementation approaches.
- Work directly with software configurations, workflows, and platform features to deliver functional client solutions rather than focusing exclusively on advisory or oversight activities.
- Collaborate with client legal, compliance, IT, information security, and business teams to integrate privacy solutions into existing operations.
- Build trusted client relationships through clear communication, sound judgment, proactive problem-solving, and a strong service-oriented approach.
- Contribute to internal methodologies, delivery frameworks, templates, service offerings, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Support business development activities, including engagement scoping, project estimates, technical input, and identification of follow-on opportunities.
- Stay informed about emerging privacy regulations, technologies, industry standards, and best practices to continuously strengthen consulting expertise.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in data privacy, data protection, compliance, information security, risk management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead client engagements or complex projects, managing stakeholders, project execution, timelines, and deliverable quality.
- Strong client-facing communication, presentation, relationship management, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of U.S., European, and other applicable international privacy regulations, as well as practical privacy program operations.
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand complex software platforms, quickly learn new technologies, and translate business requirements into functional solutions.
- Hands-on experience independently configuring privacy management platforms such as OneTrust, Osano, Transcend, Ketch, TrustArc, or comparable solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work autonomously, and provide effective project-level leadership to supporting team members.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Experience implementing privacy technology solutions throughout the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering and configuration to testing and deployment, is preferred.
- Previous experience in consulting, professional services, or client-facing advisory environments is an advantage.
- Relevant International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certifications, such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT, are highly desirable.
- OneTrust Professional or Expert certifications are considered a plus.
- Experience mentoring junior consultants and contributing to client proposals, project estimates, or engagement scoping is preferred.
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
Benefits:
- Opportunity to lead diverse client engagements and work with organizations facing complex data privacy and protection challenges.
- Exposure to leading privacy management technologies, including OneTrust and other emerging platforms.
- Opportunities to develop specialized technical expertise and expand professional knowledge in a rapidly evolving field.
- Collaborative consulting environment that encourages knowledge-sharing, continuous learning, and professional development.
- Opportunities to mentor junior consultants and contribute to the development of consulting methodologies and service offerings.
- Career growth opportunities through increased engagement leadership, technical specialization, and client advisory responsibilities.
