Original job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cybersecurity SecOps Consultant based in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity SecOps Consultant who combines strong hands-on cybersecurity expertise with strategic consulting and technical delivery leadership. In this role, you will advise cybersecurity leaders, translate complex security challenges into actionable initiatives, and drive cross-functional projects from planning through implementation and adoption. You will work across security operations, engineering, SIEM and security-data platforms, incident response, automation, and emerging security technologies. Acting as a trusted advisor to both technical teams and business stakeholders, you will help define priorities, assess solutions, manage risks, and deliver measurable security improvements. This opportunity is ideal for a cybersecurity professional who thrives in complex enterprise environments, enjoys solving ambiguous challenges, and can connect technical execution with broader business objectives.
Accountabilities:
• Advise cybersecurity leaders on Security Operations (SecOps) strategy, operational priorities, technology initiatives, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Translate broad cybersecurity objectives into structured project scopes, technical requirements, workstreams, milestones, dependencies, risk assessments, ownership models, and implementation roadmaps.
• Lead cross-functional cybersecurity initiatives, coordinating security operations, engineering, application and infrastructure teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Facilitate technical workshops, stakeholder discussions, and working sessions while resolving dependencies, driving decisions, and maintaining delivery discipline through tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Provide technical and advisory leadership across security engineering, SIEM and security-data platforms, incident response, AI defense, platform migrations, data onboarding and routing, integrations, detection use cases, security analytics, SOAR, workflow orchestration, and automation.
• Evaluate cybersecurity technologies and technical approaches, challenge assumptions, identify operational gaps, and recommend practical solutions for technology selection, deployment, configuration, integration, and ongoing support.
• Define and communicate cybersecurity performance, risks, and delivery outcomes through metrics, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), dashboards, status reports, decision documentation, and executive-level presentations.
• Bridge the gap between technical teams and business leadership, ensuring cybersecurity initiatives remain aligned with organizational priorities and deliver measurable results.
Requirements:
• At least 7 years of relevant cybersecurity experience, including substantial hands-on experience in Security Operations, security engineering, cybersecurity architecture, technical implementation, or consulting.
• Direct experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), and security-data platforms, particularly Splunk and/or Cribl. Experience with data pipelines, data onboarding, integrations, platform migrations, and detection use-case development is highly valued.
• Strong understanding of modern cybersecurity operations, including security monitoring and detection, incident response, security engineering, security-data management, integrations, and operational workflows. Familiarity with SIEM concepts such as data collection, normalization, routing, alerting, investigation, and reporting is essential.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical cybersecurity projects or workstreams and independently turning complex or ambiguous objectives into actionable plans, requirements, milestones, dependencies, risk assessments, recommendations, and measurable outcomes.
• Strong consulting, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities, including discovery, requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, problem-solving, documentation, and effective communication with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
• Experience working with enterprise cybersecurity technologies and integrations such as Splunk, Cribl, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, ServiceNow, SOAR platforms, endpoint security solutions, Jira, and Confluence.
• Understanding of cybersecurity governance, risk management, and industry frameworks, particularly the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and NIST SP 800-53.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, navigate ambiguity, and influence stakeholders across different levels of an organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with ServiceNow Security Operations and/or Configuration Management Database (CMDB), particularly in environments where security operations rely on asset, configuration, vulnerability, incident, and other security-related data.
• Experience supporting regulated industries, critical infrastructure, or highly controlled cybersecurity environments.
• Background in developing executive security metrics, Key Risk Indicators, dashboards, security architectures, operating models, or engineering support models.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, GIAC, or vendor-specific security and SIEM certifications.
• PMP, Agile, Scrum, or similar project delivery certifications are advantageous, although demonstrated cybersecurity consulting and delivery leadership take priority.
Benefits:
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
• Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to support eligible healthcare and dependent care expenses.
• Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance.
• Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage, with options to purchase additional coverage.
• Paid Time Off (PTO) and personal leave.
• Paid holidays.
• 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching contributions.
• A work environment that promotes work-life balance, professional development, teamwork, and continuous learning.
• Opportunities to contribute to complex cybersecurity initiatives and work with innovative technologies across diverse enterprise environments.
